Worship This Weekend
FCC Stained Glass

Our second Stewardship Sunday will focus on relationships.  Rev. Holly Irvin will preach at both services on Deuteronomy 6:4-6 and John 13:34-35.  The sermon title is, "Extravagant Generosity:  Relationships are Matters of the Heart."   This sermon celebrates those we love and their positive influence in our lives.

For the 9:00 traditional service the Chancel Choir is preparing a beautiful anthem.  The 10:15 progressive service's One and All Band will be rockin' the house as usual.  Don't miss either service, or both!  Hungry on a Sunday morning?  There will be donut holes and coffee in the Centrum during fellowship time, and a few more items to choose from at the 10:15 One and All service .

A message about Gifts for Another Table:
October is the month we collect items for the Salvation Army.  Non-perishable food items needed include boxed rice dinners, pasta and sauce, potato dinners with sauce, Hamburger Helper, instant mashed potatoes, and canned vegetables and fruit.
Don't Miss It

Reminders
Things to Do While
You Are at Church

Sign up at the Information Center for the October 29 and November 12 Discernment Meetings. The Trustees have been reflecting on our church and the larger church in this day and age. Now they are bringing what they have learned and discussed to the congregation. Plan to come to be a part of the discussion sessions and share your dreams for our church (each meeting is from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.).
Fill out a TLC for FCC slip (see article above).

Sign up for the Wednesday Supper Club October 18 meeting at Garden of Paradise at 5:30.  To attend, note number attending on a Sunday attendance pad.  Or you may phone the FCC office at 309 829-9327 by 4:15 on Monday, October 16.

Bring a new or gently used donation for the Start Fresh ministry.  Items to bring for this men's prison clothing ministry include coats, scarves, hats, and gloves.

Bring a travel-size item for Operation Santa (a Disciples Women's effort) for military men and women and leave it in the designated area near the Information Center.  See The Messenger for details.

Sign up at the Information Center for the Tuesday, October 24, Blood Drive.  The drive is from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. in Major Hall.  You may also sign up by calling the church office at 309 829-9327.

Check In on Facebook while you are at church.  And at the One and All service feel free to use your device for social media, to share photos and thoughts about your worship experience as it happens.

Make a new friend!  Greet a visitor.  Show folks around and help them with questions they might have.  Invite them to worship and/or to share fellowship over a cup of coffee or breakfast treat.  The bulletin is a great source of information for visitors, as is the Information Center.  Let's be a welcoming church!

For a congregation to be transformed and transforming,
and to be the
church God wants it to be, it needs to surround everything it does with prayer.
