Worship This Weekend
FCC Stained Glass

Rev. Jim Warren is back and will preach at both services on this third Stewardship Sunday.  The sermon title is, "Extravagant Generosity:
Vision and Hope are Inspirations of the Heart." Our vision for the church comes from God. What does the future hold for our church?   Jim will reference Joel 2:28, Colossians 3:1, and Matthew 6:33.

It is Heritage Sunday!  Come to the 9:00 service to help celebrate those who have been members of First Christian
Church, Second Christian Church, Third Christian Church, Stanford Christian Church, or University Christian Church
for 50 or more years.  There will be a reception in the Centrum following the service.

Also at the 9:00 a.m. service we will dedicate Charleigh Lynn and Andie Quinn Henneberg, whose parents are Drew and Jenny Henneberg.  Come be a part of this joyous occasion!

Holly Irvin will be away working hard on the St. Louis mission weekend.  In her absence, Deanne Byant will direct the Chancel Choir, which is preparing an anthem, "Seek Ye First."  We are blessed to have outstanding music at both services.  At the 10:15 progressive One and All service, the band will bring us some solid favorites and we will worship along, coffee and light breakfast in hand.

A message about Gifts for Another Table:
October is the month we collect items for the Salvation Army.  Non-perishable food items needed include boxed rice dinners, pasta and sauce, potato dinners with sauce, Hamburger Helper, instant mashed potatoes, and canned vegetables and fruit.
Don't Miss It

Reminders
Things to Do While
You Are at Church

Sign up at the Information Center for the October 29 and November 12 Discernment Meetings. The Trustees have been reflecting on our church and the larger church in this day and age. Now they are bringing what they have learned and discussed to the congregation. Plan to come to be a part of the discussion sessions and share your dreams for our church (each meeting is from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.).
Fill out a TLC for FCC slip (see article above).

Bring a new or gently used donation for the Start Fresh ministry.  Items to bring for this men's prison clothing ministry include coats, scarves, hats, and gloves.

Bring a travel-size item for Operation Santa (a Disciples Women's effort) for military men and women and leave it in the designated area near the Information Center.  See The Messenger for details.

Sign up at the Information Center for the Tuesday, October 24, Blood Drive.  The drive is from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. in Major Hall.  You may also sign up by calling the church office at 309 829-9327.  Incentive to give:  you could be one of a few nationwide winners of a $1000 gift card to your choice of one of many major retailers.  Sign up now!

Check In on Facebook while you are at church.  And at the One and All service feel free to use your device for social media, to share photos and thoughts about your worship experience as it happens.

Make a new friend!  Greet a visitor.  Show folks around and help them with questions they might have.  Invite them to worship and/or to share fellowship over a cup of coffee or breakfast treat.  The bulletin is a great source of information for visitors, as is the Information Center.  Let's be a welcoming church!

For a congregation to be transformed and transforming,
and to be the
church God wants it to be, it needs to surround everything it does with prayer.
