Worship This Weekend
FCC Stained Glass

In the final sermon of our Stories That Matter series, this Sunday Rev. Jim Warren will teach about, "A Lukewarm Church."  Jim will preach at both the 9:00 traditional and 10:15 progressive One and All services.  About the sermon, Jim says, "The church in Laodicea is a lukewarm church and distasteful to God. What causes a church to be lukewarm? What can be done about it?"  Revelation 3:14-22 is the scripture passage.

At the 9:00 service both the Handbell Choir and the Children and Youth Choir will perform.  At 10:15,  sing along with the One and All Band.  Mitchell and Trenton are back this week, and a light breakfast and hot coffee will be awaiting you in Fellowship Hall for your enjoyment during One and All.

Lent begins this Wednesday, March 6, with Ash Wednesday.  Please come to a meal and service in Fellowship Hall.  The meal will begin at 6:00 p.m. with soups (both chili and a vegetarian choice).  Worship starts at 6:30 p.m., and during the service ashes will be imposed.  Come hear Jim Warren's sermon, "Giving It Up and Taking It On," about which Jim says, " Psalm 51 asks God to cleanse us from our sins and create in us a clean heart. From what do each of us need to be cleansed (what do we need to give up), and what needs to be created within us (what do we need to take on)? This meditation will invite us to reflect on where we are with God as we enter this season of Lent."

"A Lukewarm Church"
The church in Laodicea is a lukewarm church and distasteful to God. What causes a church to be lukewarm? What can be done about it?

Reminders
Things to Do While
You Are at Church

Bird Feeders for YOU! After worship (both services) pick up your handmade bird feeder. The Youth worked hard making these, as well as cards for our shut-ins, at last week's Youth Group gathering. See pictures of the fun in the latest issue of The Messenger.

Drop off a donation for Bent School, whose teachers and students are in need of many items. FCC is "adopting" the school through February. See the Messenger for more information.

Drop off your Box Tops for Education in the Disciples Women's Ministries mailbox outside the church office door.

Make a new friend!  Greet a visitor. Greet someone another member has greeted!  Several contacts truly make a person feel welcome.  A great resource for helping a visitor is the bulletin, and you can also walk them to the Info Desk for another warm greeting and more information.

"Check In" on Facebook while you are at church.

On March 17 the Youth will celebrate Youth Sunday by going to Altitude Trampoline Park. at 5:00 p.m. (meet there). A parent will need to sign a waiver, either in advance or online at Altitude: altitudebloomington.pfestore.com
/waiver/. Cost is $10 per person (FCC will pay $5 of $15 charge for one hour).

Camp Registration is open for all 2019 camps.  See the bulletin or Messenger for information.

Note:  Youth Group meetings are from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. on Sundays and guests are invited.  Generally, we will no longer have meals at Youth Group.  Generally, Kids for Christ (Kindergarten through 2nd grade) will only meet on the first Sunday of the month, as per tradition.
