Worship This Weekend

We are back to our usual two-service schedule this Sunday.  Attend at 9:00 a.m. for a traditional service, and/or at 10:15 a.m. for a more progressive service.

This Sunday we observe Epiphany (the manifestation of Christ to the Gentiles as represented by the Magi).  Rev. Jim Warren will preach on, "Another Way Home," as he explores Matthew 2:1-12.  About the sermon he says, "The Magi followed the star in search of Jesus, but ran into Herod along the way.  Herod wanted to eliminate Jesus because he saw Jesus as a threat.  The Magi were warned in a dream to take another road home and avoid Herod."

Holly Irvin will be sharing a gift of music on flute at the 9:00 a.m.  service, and our One and All Band will be playing upbeat tunes at the 10:15 service.  The latter service is held in Fellowship Hall where a light breakfast will await you!

Happy New Year!  As the new year symbolically provides fresh opportunities, why not make one of your priorities inviting a friend to worship with you?  All are welcome!

Can't attend this Sunday?  Tune in at 9:00 a.m.on our Facebook Page, or on our website ( www.blmfcc.com), to see a live stream of the traditional service!  You can watch  and worship along with folks at FCC.  Be sure to tell your friends!

Things to Do While
You Are at Church

Sign up for Third Thursday Food and Fellowship. The group will gather January 16 at 12:30 p.m. at Famous Dave's.  To RSVP, note number attending on Sunday attendance pad far right column or phone the FCC office before 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 14.  In case of inclement weather, be sure the office has your current email and/or mobile number for text.

Drop off Plastic Caps and Lids.   Disciples Women's Ministries is collecting plastic caps and lids of (almost) all types in coordination with St. Luke Union Church. The caps can be donated at the FCC office counter or Info Desk.  Please remember lids must be free of any food residue and liners must be removed, as food residue and liners interfere with the recycling process. We cannot use plastic food containers, metal lids, or lids from drive-thru drink containers.  Thank you & keep them coming.

Drop Off Sweatpants for Bent School Students, who are in need of gender-neutral colored pants sized 4T-7.  A collection bin will be at the Info Desk.

Drop Off School Supplies and other items for school children. Reach Out is collecting supplies for Sheridan School and Bent School.  Teachers have requested a number of specific items.  Please find a detailed list of needed items at the Info Desk.  Some examples:  Ziploc gallon bags, paper towels, plastic shoeboxes, glue sticks, tissues, pens, and Playdoh.  Also, gently used tennis shoes, coats, clothes for kids to change into in case of accidents, and new boys' and girls' underwear are needed.

Drop off your Box Tops for Education in the Disciples Women's Ministries mailbox outside the church office door.

Make a new friend!  Greet a visitor. Greet someone another member has greeted!  Several contacts truly make a person feel welcome.  A great resource for helping a visitor is the bulletin, and you can also walk them to the Info Desk for another warm greeting,  more information, and a welcome gift!
