Jim Warren will take a break
from preaching
this Sunday, and we are honored to have a guest preacher, Joe Culpepper. Many of you may know or remember Joe, as he and his wife, Ellen, served at Centennial Christian Church in the not-too-distant past. Joe's sermon will be called, "Out of the Slimy Pit," and it references Psalm 40:1-8.
Joe will preach at both services. We will have great worship music Sunday, with a gift presented by a men's ensemble at the 9:00 traditional service and some favorite praise music at the 10:15 One and All progressive service, presented by the One and All band.
Between services we always have coffee and doughnut holes in the Centrum, and you can find a few other breakfast items in One and All. Grab a friend, make a new friend, come worship!
A message about Gifts for Another Table:
Let's continue to generously support Home Sweet Home Ministries this Sunday. During the month of August, our gifts will be given to The Boys & Girls Club. Suggestions of needed items are: tall white kitchen garbage bags, 55-gallon garbage bags, toilet paper, latex gloves, band aids of all sizes, ziplock bags (sandwich, quart, gallon), and quality ice cube trays.

Things to Do While
You Are at Church
Bring a donation for, or sign up to volunteer at, the annual Block Party
. Items needed include cakes,
cookies, school supplies,
and money to cover school kits and miscellaneous expenses. Volunteers are needed for various roles at the event. Sign up or donate at the Information Center.
Bring your Box Tops for Education for Bent School. Place them in the Disciples Women's Ministries mailbox near the office and they will be taken to the school by May Jackson. Thank you!
Check In on Facebook while you are at church (top right button on Facebook app news feed). At the One and All service feel free to use your device for social media, to share photos and thoughts about your worship experience as it happens.
Make a new friend! Greet a visitor. Show folks around and help them with questions they might have -- you might even invite them to Faith, Fellowship, and Flip Flops, which will be a super way to break the ice! There is no need for visitors to bring a side dish. The bulletin is a great source of information for visitors, as is the Information Center. Let's be a welcoming church!

noon on Wednesdays. The group is studying the New Testament letters of the Apostle Paul. Bring a lunch to the conference room and join the study! Class meets August 9, 16, and 23 to study Philippians. A great opportunity to learn about the first Christian communities!

The congregation is invited to attend Phyllis L. Miller's 90th birthday open house this Sunday,
July 30, from 2 to 4:00 p.m. at Eastland Suites Conference Center.
Disciples Women's Ministries meets Thursday,
August 3, at 1:00 p.m. in the Conference Room. Brenda Phillis will present "Anna and Delilah" (Women of the Bible). All are welcome.
