Worship This Weekend
FCC Stained Glass

Advent begins this Sunday, and so we light the candle of Hope.  Rev. Jim Warren's sermon, "All I Want for Christmas is... Hope," explores Jeremiah 33:14-16.  The sermon series during Advent focuses on the special gifts Christmas has for us. Those special gifts are expressed in the traditional Advent themes: hope, peace, joy, and love. During Advent we'll explore what these special gifts mean for us as we prepare to celebrate Christmas and the greatest Christmas gift of all.

A very special gift of music will be presented at the 9:00 service by our Chancel Choir, with percussion provided by members Susan Cleaver, Peggy Larson, and John Larson.  At 10:15 the One and All band will have us singing along to some seasonal favorites.  Invite a friend to enjoy this casual service with you.  You can promise a light breakfast and warm welcome.  See you in Fellowship Hall!

Worship and Wonder continues!  Susan Sanders begins as our Worship and Wonder storyteller this Sunday.  She is a Worship and Wonder Trainer and has led W & W for many years.  She is currently participating in the children's ministry at Normal First Presbyterian Church, and will be able to be our storyteller as well.  We welcome Susan to First Christian and look forward to many stories!

In December we will be collecting food items for the Home Sweet Home Mission, a great community member.  Please bring rice & rice dinners, potato dinners, pasta of any kind, pasta sauce, Hamburger Helper, dinner meals, cereal, mashed/boxed potatoes, and canned fruits and vegetables.  Thank you!

Reminders
Things to Do While
You Are at Church

Congratulate and Thank Rev. Jim Warren for 20 years of Service! What a milestone for Jim and for us! His anniversary is December 1, and we will celebrate him in a larger way on January 27 (more details later), but be sure to thank him for his service and commitment to God and FCC when you see him Sunday morning!

Pick up your All I Want for Christmas Advent Devotional at the table outside the sanctuary in the narthex or at the table outside Fellowship Hall.

Drop off your donation for the Start Fresh winter clothing drive, or pick up a flyer to learn more.  A collection tote and flyers are at the Information Center.

Make a new friend!  Greet a visitor. Greet someone another member has greeted!  Several contacts truly make a person feel welcome.  A great resource for helping a visitor is the bulletin, and you can also walk them to the Information Center for another warm greeting and more information.

"Check In" on Facebook while you are at church.  And at the One and All service feel free to use your device for social media, to share photos and thoughts about your worship experience as it happens.
