Guthrie Recognized with Women’s Choice Awards

The teams at multiple Guthrie hospitals have been honored with 2024 Women’s Choice Awards. The Women’s Choice Award is a trusted third-party validation designed to build trust and empower women with the confidence of knowing they’re making the best decision for them and their family.

Based on multiple factors, including a high percentage of patients saying they would definitely recommend the hospital, the following Guthrie locations earned awards.

Guthrie Troy Community Hospital

  • 2024 Emergency Care Award
  • Ranked in the top 4% of more than 4,700 hospitals.
  • Acknowledged for timely and effective care.

Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital

  • 2024 Breast Care Center Award
  • Ranked in the top 6% of more than 4,700 hospitals.

Guthrie Corning Hospital

  • 2024 Mammogram Award
  • Ranked in the top 8% of more than 4,700 hospitals.

Congratulations to all caregivers who played a role in providing this top-level care.

Liz Jaekle Recognized Nationally for Driving Guthrie Forward

Liz Jaekle, EVP and Chief Strategy Officer for The Guthrie Clinic, has been named one of Becker’s Hospital Review’s “Health System Chief Strategy Officers to Know.”

The strategic leaders named to this list work to craft short and long-term plans that drive progress for their hospitals and health systems. They advance their organizations via partnerships and acquisitions, as well as innovative initiatives and technologies.

Specifically, Liz was recognized for launching the All In Guthrie 2027 strategic plan after joining Guthrie in 2022, establishing cross-functional work groups across service lines, and helping to lead acquisition efforts, including Twin Tiers Eye Care and Lourdes Hospital.

Congratulations, Liz!

Toni Murdough Compassionate Care Award

Congratulations to Steve Osterhaus, Communications Coordinator at Guthrie Cortland Medical Center! Nominated by his peers, he was named the second winner of the annual Toni Murdough Compassionate Care Award.

Toni Murdough retired from Guthrie Cortland Medical Center in 2022. While her focus was on the patient experience, Toni’s “lead by example” mentality impacted patients and caregivers alike. Toni’s compassion toward all was overflowing as she walked the halls of GCMC.

As recipient of the annual “Toni” Award, Steve’s peers and leaders at Guthrie Cortland Medical Center believe he exemplifies our Mission, Vision, and Values in the way that Toni did during her decades-long service. It is in recognition of the compassion he shows daily at work, at home and in the community.

Holiday Music in the Sayre Atrium

The sounds of the holidays will be ringing through the Atrium at Robert Packer Hospital this month. We are excited to welcome local music students and groups to enrich the lives of our patients and caregivers with their talents.

Schedule:

Guthrie Holiday Food Drive

One can of vegetables or one box of pasta equals nearly a pound. That means one donated item from each Guthrie caregiver would result in more than 6,000 pounds of food for those in need.

Today, Dec. 15, is the final day of the Guthrie Holiday Food Drive. There’s still time for us to set the example for the communities we serve, by dropping off any non-perishable food item at one of the locations below.

  • Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre Campus: Atrium
  • Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre Campus: Sumner Lobby
  • Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital, Towanda Campus: Lobby
  • Guthrie Troy Community Hospital: Lobby
  • Guthrie Corning Hospital: Lobby
  • Guthrie Cortland Medical Center: Lobby

Agencies receiving donations from our food drive include Child Hunger Outreach Partners (CHOP), Corning Food Bank and Seven Valleys Health Coalition, along with all of their partnering organizations.

Guthrie Holiday Coloring Contest: Cast Your Vote!

The kids have done their part. Now, it’s time to cast your vote for the 2023 Guthrie Holiday Coloring Contest! This contest is a celebration of creativity and holiday cheer, featuring the artistic talents of our youngest community members.

Beginning today, we invite you to participate in this event by casting your votes on Facebook. Choose the colorful creations that captivate your heart and show your support by simply “liking” the photo or photos of the artwork. You can find the Facebook album on our Guthrie Facebook page or by clicking here.

The contest is divided into four different age categories, ensuring a fair and exciting competition for all participants. One child per age category will have the honor of winning the grand prize!

Remember, your vote matters! Your “likes” will determine the winners of each category, who will be announced on Monday on our Guthrie Facebook page.
