Sponsorship Opportunity for the First Annual Kick-Off to Little League Tournament
What: The Greater Burlington Leadership Class of 2020-2021 is looking for sponsors to help kick-off the little league season. Iowa Restaurant & Bar Relief Grant Program
What: An extension of the Iowa Small Business Relief Grant Program, Governor Reynolds allocated $40 million in federal CARES Act funds to provide financial relief for eligible restaurants and bars impacted during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Iowa Restaurant and Bar Relief Program will assist many Iowa establishments that were among the most directly and hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic and associated closures and mitigation efforts.

Open 4 Business - What Could Your Business Do With an Extra $28,000?
What: With Main Street Iowa and the Iowa Economic Development Authority, Downtown Partners presents the Open 4 Business competition for a for-profit business located in the Main Street district. Each of the state’s Main Street organizations can nominate one business. If you have been in business since March 31, 2020 and are either currently or planning to be located in downtown Burlington, you qualify!

Opportunity to Apply for Employer Innovation Fund and Child Care Challenge Fund Grants
What: Employers, employer consortiums and others can now apply for two Future Ready Iowa grants. The Employer Innovation Fund is a matching grant program where funds can be used to support credit and non-credit programs, as well as wrap-around support programs such as childcare, transportation, books, equipment and other ways to help upskill Iowans. The Child Care Challenge Fund is another matching grant program where dollars can be used for new construction of a child care facility, rehabilitation of an existing structure as a child care facility or retrofitting an existing structure for child care.

Heritage Trust Offers Restoration Grants
What: The Heritage Trust is once again offering 1:1 matching grants up to $5,000 for preservation and rehabilitation work on historic structures in Burlington. The grant can be used towards out of pocket expenses for both materials and labor on qualifying restoration projects. This year, the grant round application deadline has been extended to February 28. A link to the application may be found on the contact page here. Paper applications may also be picked up at Preservation Station, 213 Valley, 9 AM - 1 PM on Saturdays. Funding for this grant program comes from the Heritage Trust's annual Tour of Homes and from sales at its Preservation Station architectural salvage resale shop. The Heritage Trust is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the preservation and restoration of Burlington's architectural history through education, action, and advocacy.

Southeast Iowa Higher Education Alliance
What: Iowa Wesleyan University (IW) and Southeastern Community College (SCC) have announced the approval of the formation of the Southeast Iowa Higher Education Alliance (SIHEA). While both institutions will continue to operate separately, this unique partnership between a four-year private liberal art university and a community college will serve as an innovation model for the future of higher education. SIHEA will offer smooth, affordable academic pathways between IW and SCC, broadening the educational opportunities for students and increasing the talent pipeline for our regional workforce. Through this model, a student could take college-level courses in high school and go on to complete an associate’s, bachelor’s, and master’s degree all within the SIHEA system.
