What: Riverboat season is almost upon us, but unfortunately the last year has caused a little rustiness with giving tours. The Convention & Visitors Bureau will be offering a tour guide refresher course to get everyone back in the groove. A classroom conversation will take place as well as the opportunity to drive the route if you desire. The course is great for current guides and anyone interested in joining the group.

Main Street Iowa Challenge Grant is open for local applications!
What: Local Applications are due July 23, with state application due September 9. If you are interested or you know someone who is, please visit the Greater Burlington Partnership webpage for more details.
PROGRAM DETAILS
· Maximum grant awards will be $100,000. Minimum grant awards will be no less than $25,000.
· A 1:1 match is required. In-kind contributions are permitted for no more than 35% of the project match. In-kind match must be documented, professional services.
· Building project must be located within the local Main Street District boundaries as of January 1, 2021.
· The local Main Street program must be the grant applicant on behalf of the property owner(s). Only one application per local Main Street program is allowed.

Concert of the Burlington Municipal Band

SEISO Returns with Symphonic Blast Concert and Fireworks

Library Highlights Summer Reading, Free Family Programs, and Expanded Hours
What: Starting July 5, the Burlington Public Library will be open from 9 AM - 8 PM on Mondays - Thursdays and 9 AM - 5 PM on Fridays and Saturdays.
 
The library’s annual Summer Reading program continues through August 2. There are programs for all ages: babies/toddlers, children, tweens, teens, and adults. Those who register can enter drawings and earn weekly incentives.
 
On Tuesdays at 2 PM, the library is offering a series of fun free family programs. On July 6, Absolute Science will dazzle with some wild experiments at the Crapo Park Bandshell. On July 13, join Mike Anderson for a concert at The Port of Burlington. July 20, also at the Port, the Eulenspiegel Puppets will be performing. An annual favorite, the Blank Park Zoo will bring animals to the Port on July 27.
