Governor Announces Childcare Initiatives   
What: The Governor has implemented immediate action including:
• Creation of a “Best Place for Working Parents” designation that will recognize employers that go above and beyond to accommodate their employees with children. This program will begin in January 2022.
• Additional $10 million in funding for the Childcare Challenge Grant Program, to encourage and enable businesses, nonprofit organizations, and consortiums to establish local child care facilities and increase the availability of quality, affordable child care for working Iowans.

Catfish Cares, Festival of Trees      
What: Select local businesses decorate a tree for the 2021 Catfish Cares Festival of Trees and compete for charity. Each business will choose a non-profit/charity to sponsor. All proceeds will go towards the charity of their choice. During a two-week period, members of the community will be able to vote on their favorite tree. The top three trees with the most votes will receive a check for their respective non-profit organization in the sponsoring business’ name. Businesses can also choose to sell their trees for charity at their discretion. Prizes: 1st place; $750, 2nd Place; $500, 3rd Place; $250. Checks will be made out to the business’ chosen charity.
