This year's theme is in support of the Lightscape Project efforts to light the Great River Bridge and Snake Alley. The 2021 Lighted Holiday Parade theme is, "Let's Get Lit."

Governor Announces Childcare Initiatives
What: The Governor has implemented immediate action including:
• Creation of a “Best Place for Working Parents” designation that will recognize employers that go above and beyond to accommodate their employees with children. This program will begin in January 2022.
• Additional $10 million in funding for the Childcare Challenge Grant Program, to encourage and enable businesses, nonprofit organizations, and consortiums to establish local child care facilities and increase the availability of quality, affordable child care for working Iowans.
When: The additional monies in the Child Care Challenge Grant Fund, which Iowa businesses are eligible to apply for, is now open.

What: The Greater Burlington Partnership is accepting nominations for the 2021 Community Awards: Business Person of the Year, Community Impact of the Year, Champion of Hidden Talent, Best Renovation to a Facility, YP of the Year, and the Downtown Distinction Award.

This magical day is a family-oriented, self-guided event. Begin at the Art Center by picking up your goodie bag any time after 10 AM. Please come early to allow enough time to enjoy all the fun before it ends at 4 PM. Your family will spend a few hours making small crafts, painting pottery, creating a family photo, listening to Christmas stories, watching Christmas movies, and so much more! This fun event is most enjoyed by kids 10 and under.

Catfish Cares, Festival of Trees
What: Select local businesses decorate a tree for the 2021 Catfish Cares Festival of Trees and compete for charity. Each business will choose a non-profit/charity to sponsor. All proceeds will go towards the charity of their choice. During a two-week period, members of the community will be able to vote on their favorite tree. The top three trees with the most votes will receive a check for their respective non-profit organization in the sponsoring business’ name. Businesses can also choose to sell their trees for charity at their discretion. Prizes: 1st place; $750, 2nd Place; $500, 3rd Place; $250. Checks will be made out to the business’ chosen charity.
