More My Summer Library Book Distributions
My Summer Library is here and it has never been more important to ensure students receive their books. Each year, volunteers distribute 12 free books to children at local schools to promote literacy and to help mitigate summer learning loss. During these uncertain times, United Way is working hard to find new ways of delivering more than 24,000 books safely to 14 partner schools. Since schools are closed to the public, many of the books were first delivered from Scholastic headquarters to My Summer Library program manager, Jessica Novak’s home garage. She and her son, Anderson, sorted and boxed up thousands of books to be delivered to each individual school. Please join us in sending a thank you to this amazing duo for their commitment to education and their willingness to help reach students in need.
United for Southern Arizona COVID-19 Fund
Your United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona has joined with our nonprofit partners, local foundations, businesses, media and educational organizations to launch  United for Southern Arizona COVID-19 Fund   to help community members most in need survive during this crisis. This fund is designed to be flexible to meet the emerging needs of people in this fast-changing environment. THANK YOU to everyone who has given during this time of need. Your gift to this fund is essential and will quickly support a child, family, or older person with what is needed right now.
To help support you and our whole community we have been gathering a list of resources available in Southern Arizona during this difficult time. Resources include: food assistance for individuals, families and elders, low cost internet, tax assistance, financial advice, WIC assistance, job resources, tips for working remotely and more.
Virtual Filing Pilot
For those who have not yet filed their taxes, there is a virtual filing option! This year United Way of Tucson is teaming up with Code for America to provide an online Tax Assistance Program: GetYourRefund.org . This service uses United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona's Valet VITA model along with a way to upload documents through an app from any device with an internet connection, so people can use Valet VITA without coming to a site to have documents scanned. This is one way for taxpayers to have their tax returns completed from the safety of their own homes during the COVID-19 pandemic. Taxpayers can access the online intake site at  GetYourRefund.org .

Board Campaign

Board members who have not yet made their giving commitment are asked to return the Letter of Intent to Della Hodson at their earliest convenience. As a reminder, it is not necessary that pledges be paid at this time. The Resource Development team is ready and willing to assist with any solicitations from your circle of influence.
