During late February and early March, Bishop Grimes senior Spanish 5 students kicked off a schoolwide service project, designed to provide underprivileged students at Deleware School in Syracuse, NY with toiletries and healthy snacks.
A two-week collection process ensued, and the Bishop Grimes community once again answered the call. When all said and done, the Spanish 5 students were able to fill one large box, and one full bag of toiletries for each family in the first-grade class at Delaware School.
“Many families are struggling to provide the basics during this difficult time,” said Sharon Bearer, a Spanish teacher at BG. “The outpouring of donations and support was incredible, making our We Care for Delaware initiative a tremendous success.”
The boxes were picked up in late March and distributed to the families prior to spring break to provide meals for students at Delaware School during the break.
“I am proud of our BG students, and the BG community for once again stepping up to help those in need,” said Bishop Grimes Principal Allyson Headd. “Faith formation, academic excellence, and service to others are the foundation of Bishop Grimes and our mission.”
