Our Coffee Passport got a little extra love this week when Good Day Sacramento stopped by MoJoe’s Cafe to spotlight the program! The segment showcased the fun of exploring local coffee shops, collecting stamps, and supporting the businesses that make our community so special. You can watch it here!

If you haven’t picked up your passport yet, there’s still time! Visit the participating locations, collect all 13 stamps, and turn in your completed passport back at the Chamber Office for a chance to win local prizes. Your Membership team helped members make connections and get value out of their membership this week. Tuesday, they hosted the Creative Collab Roundtable, which is a focus group for all of our creative members, if that is you, join us for our next meeting on Tuesday, September 22nd (learn more here).

Wednesday, they held the monthly Business Bootcamp with Marcie Shelton, The Leader's Partner, teaching on Leadership and Leadership styles.

Thursday, they greeted 100 business professionals to the Breakfast at Randy Peters Event Center.

Last night, the Roseville Area Business Political Action Committee hosted their August Fundraiser at the Garden Room @the Grounds and had an amazing turnout! Thank you to everyone who came out to support their efforts and celebrate the election season ahead.

On October 8th, we will be offering a service to our business and regional community members by hosting our District 6 Congressional Candidates Forum at Johnson Hall @the Grounds.

This nonpartisan discussion will educate community members on current impacts to economic development, the landscape of our new re-districting, and educate attendees on the top 2 candidates potentially representing District 6.

SB 716 - Local government: Ordinances, penalties for violation, and nonresidential structures



SB 716 would increase penalties for certain health and safety violations involving large nonresidential properties (20,000+ square feet). Under the current version, this bill would allow county boards of supervisors to establish fines, penalties, and forfeitures for ordinance violations. Penalties could range from $1,000 for a first violation to $5,000 for subsequent violations, with penalties potentially increasing to as much as $50,000 per violation during a state of emergency or federal disaster declaration. The bill also clarifies whether the property owner, tenant, or another party is responsible for a violation based on who controls the condition or activity causing it. 

Status: On August 26, the Assembly amended SB 716, read it for a second time, and re-referred it to the Assembly Committee on Local Government. The bill has not been signed into law and remains under consideration. Chamber members who own, lease, or operate larger commercial properties should be aware of the potential impact as we continue to monitor the bill.

SB 1069 - Air pollution: Aftermarket parts - Executive orders

SB 1069 would establish a conditional approval process for certain aftermarket vehicle parts while the California Air Resources Board (CARB) completes its review for an executive order. The bill is intended to streamline the approval process for manufacturers that have demonstrated compliance with California’s emissions requirements, allowing qualifying parts to be sold, advertised, or installed while final review is pending. The measure would establish timelines for CARB to review requests while maintaining emissions testing and compliance requirements.

Status: SB 1069 is currently moving through the Legislature and has not been signed into law. The Chamber will continue to monitor the bill and its potential impact on manufacturers, automotive businesses, and consumers.

We are excited to introduce Weston Battagliese as the new Communications Manager for the Roseville Area Chamber of Commerce. For the past 10 years, Wes has worked in Sacramento news, most recently at ABC10, where he built his career around storytelling through video, writing, and editing to highlight the people, businesses, and organizations that make our communities special. We are excited for him to bring those skills to the Chamber and find new ways to showcase what our members do, share their stories, and connect businesses with one another and the broader community. Wes' goal is to help tell the story of the incredible work happening throughout our region while supporting the Chamber’s mission of connecting businesses and strengthening our community. Outside of work, he is a proud dad to a 2-year-old daughter and the owner of a Labradoodle who keeps his family busy!
