Yesterday we held our State of the City event at the Placer Valley Soccer Complex and couldn’t have asked for a better crowd to support the theme of community and Roseville pride. Thank you to the 800 community members who attended, sponsored, and participated in such a fun morning!
We would also like to extend our gratitude to Mayor Krista Bernasconi for her years of service, dedication, and community leadership. Our city has seen much growth and improvement under her guidance and time on City Council. In her address, Mayor Bernasconi touched on topics surrounding major economic development, exciting new projects such as Bosch’s work with silicon carbide chip production, and honoring families and those who have served in our military.
| | | Krista ended her speech by talking about the quality of life in Roseville and the City's commitment to fostering a thriving community for future generations and people of all abilities. She spoke about Roseville resident and Sierra College student Noah Whitaker, and how she came to learn the story of his resilience over the years. In a wonderful display of the values that keep Roseville strong, Krista called upon the community to join her in supporting him at an upcoming fundraiser to obtain a new ADA van he needs. | |
You can donate to Noah's GoFundMe using this link HERE.

We’d also like to recognize and thank all of our food and beverage vendors at our VIP Breakfast for making the experience that much more memorable - Fig Tree Cafe, Fourscore, Java City, Pure Green, Randy Peters Catering & Event Center, Rooftop Macarons, The Bean Roasting Co, and Toastique!
| | | If you missed out on all the action, you can watch some of the highlights from the morning here, and you can look back on the best moments in this photo gallery. | | | The Membership Team welcomed over 30 non-profits to the Non-Profit Roundtable hosted by Placer SPCA, for an engaging discussion on Fundraising, led by Tiffany Loeffler, The Alliance Defending the Cause of Kids & Family and Meredith Adams, The Gathering Inn. | | | Wednesday they welcomed 18 new members for the monthly Chamber Orientation. And a congratulations to BrightStart Learning Academy and VEG (Veterinary Emergency Group) ER for Pets, who celebrated their Ribbon Cuttings with us this week! | | | |

Ask to Oppose AB 2564
As part of the United Chamber Advocacy Network the Roseville Area Chamber of Commerce OPPOSES AB 2564 (Ward) because it will outlaw a vast range of existing, consumer-friendly discounts and conflicts with California’s existing law on data collection and usage, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as well as the CCPA’s implementing regulations. Moreover, AB 2564 uses undefined and ambiguous terms, meaning it will be difficult for employers to ascertain whether they are in compliance with its language without litigation. Because AB 2564 is enforced via legal action by private citizens or by state and local prosecutors, we expect these vagaries to add considerable litigation costs for businesses who are simply trying to offer long-standing discounts to consumer.
Context:
- AB 2564 Outlaws Offering Different Prices-Including Discounted Prices-Based on Any Sort of Data.
- AB 2564 Outlaws Consumer-Friendly Discounts - and Will Hurt Affordability Across California by Creating Litigation Risks for Businesses That Offer Discounts.
- AB 2564 Contradicts California’s Landmark Privacy Law - the California Consumer Privacy Act – by Creating New Consent and Disclosure Requirements, as Well as New Limitations on Data Usage.
- Concerns Over Use of Third-Party Data Triggering Liability
While we appreciate and support the intention of this bill — to ensure California consumers are treated fairly and without discrimination — we are very concerned by its infringement upon the CCPA, and the collateral damage that its broad language will have for California retailers as they attempt to compete and offer discounts for consumers. We look forward to working with the author – as we did on last year’s AB 446 – but, for these reasons, we must OPPOSE AB 2564 (Ward) at this time. Please help us defeat this bill by taking part in our Action Alert campaign today! Please follow this link to send a message to the Legislature.
