Easter Blessings For Our Scouting Families
A Deep, Rich Spiritual Power Can Come From Being Momentarily Still........

Easter is a season of renewal and joy. As a part of that joy and renewal, we as a Scouting family and community currently find ourselves mindfully observing what the scriptures call the “rest of the Lord”.

As the Hebrew prophet Isaiah once taught, “In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength” ( Isaiah 30:15 ) . How we all need that strength right now!

Thus we see how great is the wisdom of slowing down a bit—not just to smell the roses but to ponder important questions, to receive His tenderness, and to care for those around us in ways that can happen only with increased attention, gentleness, and quietude.

Thank you,  everyone , for hanging in there during these unprecedented, unpredictable, and frustrating days! We’ve witnessed so many of you doing a great job keeping things going in your units. Kudos to those who have gone all-virtual with great results, and kudos to those who are working hard to figure out this new temporary way of delivering Scouting to the youth we serve. As Scouters, we all strive to provide cheerful service for others, even in uncertain and unchartered times.

Doing so this Easter might involve something harder than just doing more. After we have “cheerfully [done] all things that lie in our power,” the Lord might be inviting us to a task even more difficult than just increasing our efforts: namely, to “stand still”. “Be still,” He says, “and know that I am God” ( Psalm 46:10 ) .

Far beyond mere passivity or resignation, stillness can help give birth to new depths of power and comfort. In the space of a refreshing Sabbath, the quiet of communing prayer, and the stillness of retreat, something beautiful can happen.

This is our greatest desire and hope for our Scouting families around the world. This Easter Sunday, let us pause . . . and wait . . . and watch, in a place of quiet stillness, for the mighty arm of our gentle Lord to “do wonders among [us]” ( Joshua 3:5 ) .

We will get through this difficult time together.  From our families to yours, we wish for the joy of Easter to fill your hearts with gratitude, love for our neighbors, patience for endurance, and hope for peace and a season of renewal when we can all safely gather together again.
. Have Your Unit and Families Keep on Scouting With These Handy Resources

As we all know, there’s never been a better time to encourage Scouts, parents and leaders in your unit to take advantage of available online resources that make Scouting remotely possible and convenient.

Scouts and parents can download the Scouting App on both iPhone and Android devices to track their progress and access meeting plans and content.

Scoutbook is a powerful tool for leaders to keep the unit humming even when they can’t meet in person.

Last, but not least, the new Den Leader Experience within Scoutbook makes planning and running meetings a snap for Cub Scout leaders.
