Summer Camp 2018 - Here We Come!

IMPORTANT TIPS As You Prepare to Arrive
at Summer Camp
This Week:
Week One of 2018 Summer Camp kicks off this Sunday, June 24th. Our camp staff have been busy getting Camp T in tip-top shape in preparation for your arrival, and we're beyond excited! We hope you and your Scouts are too, and ready to have loads of summer fun with us next week.

A Few Reminders For All Troops as You Prepare to Arrive at Summer Camp:
  • Check-in & Registration begins at 1:00p. - Please do not arrive prior to 1:00p. as our staff will not be on hand or available to assist you. As a reminder, no one may enter campsites until your unit's check-in process is complete.
  • Have Your Medical Forms Complete, Signed and Ready - In order for your Troop's registration to go as quickly and smoothly as possible, please be sure you have complete medical forms for everyone camping with the Troop during Summer Camp, and make sure you have them out and ready for review upon arrival.
  • Consolidate All Gear Into As Few Vehicles As Possible - For the safety of all of our campers, and most especially our youth, Camp T parking staff will only permit a limited number of vehicles past the gate into the camping areas at one time. Everyone waiting in the parking line will appreciate a faster gear drop-off process and reduced waiting times with pre-planned gear and vehicle consolidation.
  • Be Ready To Make a Visit To The Waterfront! - That's right, it's swim check time once again, and one of the first things each Troop will do upon campsite set-up will be unit swim checks. Either have your Scouts wear their swim trunks to camp, or pack them where they are quickly and easily accessible.
What's New at Camp and What's Happening During
Week One:
  • FREE Scoutmaster Specific Training Offered during all weeks of Summer Camp
     - For your convenience, we're holding Scoutmaster Specific training at camp on Wednesday and Thursday evenings every week!! Just choose the week that works best for your schedule and sign up today. If you or someone you know needs, or would like to take advantage of this free leader training, please contact Sarah Fernandez at, or let us know during check-in at Summer Camp.
  • Got Ink? - Well, used ink cartridges that is. If so, we'll take 'em! We now have a used ink cartridge drop box conveniently located in the Headquarters building at Camp Tuscarora, so when you're busy packing for camp this weekend go ahead and pack up your used ink cartridges and bring them with you. Again, you'll help us in our efforts to be good stewards of the land and also help us earn a few funds to go right back into ongoing Camp T improvements and projects.
  • The Trading Post is Stocked and Ready - Stop in for a favorite summer treat..... a cool, refreshing slushie, (or ice cream) and check out our brand new line of camping items, official Wampus Cat Outfitters merchandise and Camp T gear while you're there. We have lots of new products and our shelves our fully stocked.
Thank you for bringing your Scouts to Tuscarora Resident Camp this summer. We can't wait to see you!!

24th World Scout Jamboree

Registration is still live for members of the BSA for the 2019 World Scout Jamboree. This historic event will be held July 22 to August 2, 2019.
The Tuscarora, East Carolina, and Cape Fear Councils are assembling one regional Troop, (consisting of members from all 3 Councils) to send to WSJ 2019.
Spaces for WSJ are extremely limited, (BSA members will only account for roughly 20 percent of the attendees!) and are first-come, first-served. If your Scout is interested in being a part of the contingent to attend WSJ in 2019, please apply as soon as possible.
Registration costs for youth and leaders approved to attend the 24th World Scout Jamboree will be roughly $2,500.00. International Service Team costs will be approximately $1,800.00.

Applications will be reviewed on both a Council and National level.
(Individuals interested in being youth participants, adult leaders or IST will need to complete an online application.)
