FRIDAY FLASH

April 22, 2022

A Message from Headmaster Scott

Dear Archway Trivium West families,

You are a tremendous groups of individuals. More so, you are a truly amazing community. Since the inception of this academy eleven years ago, being a Trivium family has carried a special meaning. There is a standard of character and class that you hold each other to and that elevates us all. As we have grown and become Trivium East, West, and Prep, the expectation and commitment to community have carried through. This next year we will contract and once again be a single Archway Trivium. We will join with our brothers and sisters from Trivium East and welcome a host of new Trivium families. It will be a beautiful time.

There is another group of Trivium families whose connection to the community is not through their own children. I speak of our teachers. Teachers play a vital role in uniting our community and guarding it against vice, error, and divisiveness. The beautiful part is that they do not attempt to do this separate from their academic instruction. Indeed, it is the unique fashion in which that instruction is provided that accomplishes this end.

When we planned the expansion of Archway Trivium, no one could have predicted the current conditions of the labor market. Our hard working team has already hired 24 teachers, leaders, and specialists for next year. As a reference point, our campus normally hires far fewer people in a year. We still have many more positions to fill. It is in that spirit that I invoke the strength of this amazing community to help us find and hire the very best teachers to join us in our shared pursuit of Truth, Goodness, and Beauty.

If you or someone you know would like to apply, please have them reach out to me directly at cscott@archwaytrivium.org, attend our Career Fair on May 3 (see below), or visit GreatHeartsCareers.org for more information.

Heartily Devoted,

Clay Scott

testing-main.jpg

Please mark your calendars for the following state-testing dates. In order to best prepare for the exams, we ask that you take note of the dates below and plan ahead. If a student leaves the testing environment, s/he cannot continue their exam and it will be submitted as-is. Please do not schedule appointments for these dates or pull your children out early.

We recommend that your scholars get a good night's sleep the day before and a nutritious breakfast in the morning. Please have students bring the following: a healthy snack and water bottle for the break during testing.

Additionally, all students should bring a set of headphones, as certain parts of the test require audio. These must not be Bluetooth headphones, but be able to connect via an auxiliary cord.

Trivium Spirit Day is the Half Day, Friday, April 29!

Spirit Day.png

Our next Trivium-wide Spirit Day is the half day Friday, April 29! Students at all three Trivium schools are encouraged to wear Spirit Wear on these days.

ATW Scholars may wear one of the following: a Spirit Wear shirt from either Archway Trivium West or Archway Trivium East, an Archway athletics t-shirt, any previously purchased Trivium spirit wear shirt, or a solid t-shirt of any color. This is optional and a uniform shirt can always be worn. All other uniform components should be worn according to our dress code. Show your school spirit!

New Archway Trivium Spirit Wear - Pre-order by May 2

The PSO is excited to debut the NEW Archway Trivium Spirit Wear and updated logo! You are only able to purchase the new spirit wear through PREORDER ONLY, so don't miss out! The order form is open through May 2, so don't delay! This round of preorders will offer child and adult tees, vinyl stickers and adult hats! Orders will be available for pickup by mid-May. You will be contacted by the PSO when your order is ready for pick up!

Health Office Donation Requests

nurse health office.png

We highly encourage all students to bring their own water bottles to school. The water bottle refilling stations are available and bringing their own water bottle will allow our students to stay hydrated, avoid the need to leave the classroom as frequently, and minimize the sharing of the water fountain. Water cups and water bottles are available from the school nurse for students who forget their water bottle.

Parents, if you would like to donate a case of water to the school for our nurses to hand out in emergencies, this would be greatly appreciated. Donations can be left in the front office for the Archway Trivium West nurse.

Take the PSO Community Survey!

The PSO Board has already begun planning for next year and we want to ensure that all voices in our community are heard. We have created a brief (it should only take a few minutes!) survey to gather feedback on this year’s PSO events and activities. Remember - everyone is part of the PSO (no initiation and no dues!) and the PSO Board is deeply appreciative of your thoughts.

Support Teacher Appreciation Week - May 3-6

Teacher Appreciation Week is fast approaching! The Trivium Prep and Archway PSOs are providing lunches for our teachers and staff each day during teacher appreciation week (May 3 - May 6).  We need your help providing individually portioned drinks (cans or bottles) and desserts/treats throughout the week. You can drop off items at the front office at the beginning of the week! Thank you so much for helping us shower our teachers and staff with love!

Volunteers are needed to assist our younger scholars during their library visits. Please review the available slots below and click on the button to sign up. Thank you!

Expectations for a Library Volunteer are helping the scholars find/choose a book, keeping them on task so their classmates also have time to choose and making sure the scholars check out at the computer with the librarian before returning to their seat. All Archway Trivium West volunteers must have Raptor clearance before volunteering on campus.

On Wednesdays, families picking up BOTH Archway and Prep students are asked to arrive AFTER 1:40 PM. On Wednesdays, families picking up Archway-only should arrive at 1:25PM.

Parents picking up Archway students from school MUST use the Archway pickup line. Prep students picking up Archway students to meet a parent driver may NOT load into a car in the Prep pick-up line or on Palm Lane. The entrance/exit to our parking lot from Encanto Blvd is right turn only.
