A Message from the Headmaster

Dear Archway Trivium Families,

This week was a unique and valuable week for me. Many of you remember that I took time off last year when my daughter was born. This year, I took time to take my oldest son to college (my wife took our other son last week). It was a proud moment for me to deliver my boy to my alma mater; I am so excited for the opportunities and adventures that await him. As the speakers addressed 5,000+ students and about 1,500 parents, they highlighted that this is the university’s 150th anniversary. I am proud of my work and accomplishments as a student and as an alumnus, but my life and work will never make an alumni highlight reel. I will never be counted among the great ones who have walked the halls of those temples of learning. In the big scheme, my contributions are utterly forgettable. In having this thought, the most interesting thing was that it didn’t make me feel small or less valuable. Instead, my eyes were open to the value of an institution that churns out virtuous men and women by the thousands. The story of humankind is punctuated by the work of heroes and tyrants, but it is written in the daily lives of the countless masses of utterly forgettable people. In that moment, I thought to myself (tongue firmly in cheek), “I’ve never been so proud to be a cog!” If you, or your child, ever feel small, as I did, then the first thing to do is congratulate yourself on seeing things as they are. The second thing is to remind yourself that the measure of a human life is not in size. It is in getting one step closer to perfection—an act of kindness, an hour of study, a callused hand and a tender heart. If we, the utterly forgettable, write the story of mankind, let’s make it a story of unwearying pursuit of virtue!

Heartily devoted,

Clay Scott, Ed.D.

Headmaster

Parent volunteers can assist in serving the food, helping the younger children in the lunchroom, ensuring the lunch room remains clean and lunch period runs smoothly. You can sign up to volunteer once a month, once a week, or every day. It’s a very important volunteer role that also makes for a fun view into your scholar’s life at school!

Communication Updates

Latest News image.png

School Messenger Communication

Great Hearts and Archway Trivium continue to utilize the system School Messenger for emails, robo-calls, and text messaging to inform families of campus related academy emergencies and other communications. SchoolMessenger has a new automatic opt-in for text feature. During the registration/re-enrollment process families confirmed their wish to participate in text communications. Great Hearts will now automatically opt in contact information given during the registration/re-enrollment process with the options you selected. You will notice at the beginning of July you will be opted in for text messaging. If you would like to opt out of text messages simply reply STOP to the text from 67585. You can also enter the code 67585 with the message STOP to block any text messaging. Please note, if opting out, you will not receive texts regarding emergencies on campus.

Email Communications

If you know of parents who are not receiving these communications, please ask them to check their junk/promotions email folders, and then email bmcdonald@archwaytrivium.org for assistance.

You can also find ALL school-wide communications on our website on the Latest News page.
