FRIDAY FLASH

February 11, 2022

A Message from Headmaster Scott

Dear Archway Trivium West Families,

If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster

And treat those two imposters just the same;

-Rudyard Kipling

Dear Archway Trivium West Families,

In a poem full of good advice, this line by Kipling has always stuck out to me. For years the word “imposters” has challenged me. What might Triumph and Disaster be posing as? Of course, there may be many valid answers here, but I would like to offer one. To illustrate, I will turn to the good ‘ole days when telephones had wires attached to them.

Sending a signal through the wire presented a problem. Sending the full wavelength through the wire required more energy than the wires could support. The solution was to cut off the top and bottom of the wave and only transmitting a smaller range from the middle of each soundwave.

sound wave.png

Despite eliminating all the peaks and valleys, the full meaning of the conversation could be conveyed. If we compare the peaks and valleys to Triumph and Disaster, we may be able to understand how neither of those are the parts of our lives where the real meaning exists. In this way, they are imposters. The daily grind may not be exciting, but it is where real life happens. We celebrate triumphs and mourn disasters, but a meaningful, happy, and fulfilling life is made in the moments in between. This weekend, as we decompress from our work, let’s take a moment to appreciate conversations on the way to school, sweeping the floor, simple meals, walking the dog, and all the other “in-between” moments that give our lives meaning.

Heartily Devoted,

Dr. Clay Scott

Academy Giving - Tax Credit

Last Friday, Great Hearts employees engaged in an afternoon of professional development. From currently the westernmost AZ Great Hearts campus in Goodyear [Trivium] to the easternmost campus in Mesa [Arete] these two Academy Giving Managers met from across the Valley to reach a goal. In a 3.5 mile hike with a challenging 600 foot vertical gain in the half mile approach to the summit, they persevered and reached the summit together. It is with the same dedication that we work across the Network to reach our Tax Credit goals this year. Help us attain our fundraising peak and celebrate the beauty of that accomplishment by redirecting your AZ Public School Tax Credit dollars to our school at bit.ly/ArchwayTriviumTC.

Let’s review and encourage steps to follow in prevention of the spread of COVID and other illnesses.

People of all ages should:

  • Wash hands often with soap and water. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
  • Cover their nose and mouth with a tissue when they cough or sneeze.
  • Avoid touching their eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Stay home when you are sick.

Additional reminders, if your child is sick with fever over 100 degrees and/or vomiting please keep them home an extra 24 hours after fever and vomiting resolved.

Please reach out with any questions or concerns.

Traffic Flow

Thank you for your patience and caution during student drop-off and pick-up. The safety of our students and staff is of the utmost importance.

As a reminder, to minimize the backup of traffic on Encanto/Bullard before the end of the school day, we are closing the Encanto entrance to our school parking lot from 2:35-3:00pm. Goodyear Police will be monitoring traffic on Encanto and Bullard during this time, and if you are stopped on one of these roads waiting to enter campus, you may be ticketed.

On Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday, families who are picking up Archway-only students should arrive to campus AFTER 3:10 PM. Families picking up both Archway and Prep students, please remind your Prep students to arrive to the pick-up zone promptly.

On Wednesdays, families picking up BOTH Archway and Prep students are asked to arrive AFTER 1:40 PM. On Wednesdays, families picking up Archway-only should arrive at 1:25PM.

Parents picking up Archway students from school MUST use the Archway pickup line. Prep students picking up Archway students to meet a parent driver may NOT load into a car in the Prep pick-up line or on Palm Lane. The entrance/exit to our parking lot from Encanto Blvd is right turn only.

Please review the following links for the modified Traffic Flow and reach out to the front office with any questions.
