LAST CHANCE to Give to Snowstorm Holiday Appreciation

The PSO Snowstorm ends on Sunday, November 17!

Don't miss out on the chance to bless our teachers this holiday!

Give to the Snowstorm Holiday Teacher Appreciation

Snowstorm is an easy way to show love to our teachers during the holidays. In lieu of gifts for each of your scholar’s six teachers, show your appreciation by giving an offering of thanks to be divided among Archway Trivium faculty and staff. This year, we are asking families to consider a gift of $50 per scholar to help us reach our goal. A donation of ANY amount is greatly appreciated!!

Families who contribute to Snowstorm will be acknowledged by name in a Snowstorm holiday letter sent to all faculty and staff.

Follow the steps below to help us bless our teachers this season:

Families who have not already given are asked to first give to Community Investment before giving a Snowstorm Holiday Gift. Please consider giving to help us reach our goal!

First, Give to Community Investment

Then, Give to the PSO Snowstorm

We know our scholars will want to share in this spirit! Scholars are invited to write a message of thanks and decorate a Snowflake Card for their teachers. All cards should be returned to their classroom so that they can be displayed outside the classrooms and in the hallways.

Literary and Historical Figure Day - Friday, November 22

Save the Date for our annual Literary & Historical Figure Day on Friday, November 22. Scholars are invited to choose a literary or historical figure from the Archway curriculum and come to school dressed as that figure* on Friday, November 22. This is a great way to celebrate our love of history and literature. All students are encouraged to participate!

Please Note: Students must complete and return a Costume Proposal Form to their classroom teacher in order to participate.

*Please remember that the character you choose should be from one of the Classics-to-Keep from the K-12 list, Greek or Roman Mythology or a historical character from our History or Science curriculum. It’s preferred, but not required, that your character looks like the author’s description of the character and not a movie version. If your costume will be at all see through, you must wear your uniform underneath. If you choose not to participate, you will need to come in uniform.

*All costumes must abide by dress code guidelines in the Family Handbook and must exclude any frightening or aggressive costumes or accessories.

Archway Spirit Day - Full Day, Tuesday, November 26

Our next Archway Spirit Day is Tuesday, November 26. This is a FULL day of school. Students at Archway Trivium are encouraged to wear Spirit Wear on this day.

Archway scholars may wear one of the following shirts: Archway Trivium Spirit Wear, a Class t-shirt, an Archway athletics t-shirt, a Run the Virtues 5K t-shirt, Trivium Prep spirit wear, any previously purchased Archway Trivium West/East spirit wear, or a solid t-shirt of any color. This is optional and a uniform shirt can always be worn. All other uniform components should be worn according to our dress code. Show your school spirit!

Cold/Flu Reminders from the Health Office

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As we head into winter, this is a quick reminder to be mindful of the beginning of the cold and flu season. It is important that we work together to keep our children healthy. Viruses/Common Colds spread easily among children in schools, and families with school-age children have more infections than others. By keeping our children flu-free, we benefit the community as a whole. You can help prevent the spread of flu and the common cold or help your child get better if he/she does get sick by following a few simple steps:

• If possible, you and your child should get a flu shot to help prevent infection with the flu.

• Remind your child to cover his/her nose and mouth with a tissue when sneezing or coughing and dispose of the tissue immediately. We teach them to cough or sneeze into the bend of their elbow, or to cough down into the front of their own shirt to help keep as many germs as possible from the hands.

• Have your child wash his/her hands frequently with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds.

• If your child is sick and has a fever, keep him/her at home to prevent the spread of illness to others.

• Your child should be naturally fever free (temp. below 100 degrees, per DHEC guidelines) without Tylenol or Motrin/Advil for at least 24 hours before returning to school. This is especially important!

Keep your child at home if he or she has a fever of 100 degrees or more. When the temperature is present in the morning prior to school (99.0 or greater) it will likely climb higher as the day progresses. If your child has cold or flu symptoms as well, please do not give Tylenol or Motrin to cover the fever and send them to school. As soon as the medicine wears off, the fever will return, and you will have exposed your child’s classmates and teachers to your child’s illness. Also, when your child has fever, he/she is even more at risk for other illnesses/ viral infections. There are many reasons why it is best to keep a sick child at home.

Flu is a serious illness and children with the flu should not come to school. Flu symptoms include fever, chills, cough, sore throat, headache, and muscle aches. You must contact the doctor with these symptoms. If you are unsure about the symptoms, contact your doctor early.

Cold symptoms include stuffy nose, sneezing, sore throat, and hacking cough. Colds often come gradually and are usually not serious. However, symptoms can become severe, and you may need to keep your child at home to get rest and plenty of fluids to prevent worsening of symptoms. If you are treating the symptoms with “cold medicines” at home prior to school, please be sure that they are the non-drowsy type medicines so that your child will be able to stay awake. Save the “nighttime” medicines for bedtime. Again, if your child has a fever (100 degrees or more) he/she should stay at home until fever free for at least 24 hours. If your child does develop a fever along with cold symptoms, you will want to contact the child’s doctor.

Communication Updates

Latest News image.png

School Messenger Communication

Great Hearts and Archway Trivium continue to utilize the system School Messenger for emails, robo-calls, and text messaging to inform families of campus related academy emergencies and other communications. SchoolMessenger has a new automatic opt-in for text feature. During the registration/re-enrollment process families confirmed their wish to participate in text communications. Great Hearts will now automatically opt in contact information given during the registration/re-enrollment process with the options you selected. You will notice at the beginning of July you will be opted in for text messaging. If you would like to opt out of text messages simply reply STOP to the text from 67585. You can also enter the code 67585 with the message STOP to block any text messaging. Please note, if opting out, you will not receive texts regarding emergencies on campus.

Email Communications

If you know of parents who are not receiving these communications, please ask them to check their junk/promotions email folders, and then email bmcdonald@archwaytrivium.org for assistance.

You can also find ALL school-wide communications on our website on the Latest News page.
