FRIDAY FLASH

November 19, 2021

A Message from Headmaster Scott

Dear Archway Trivium West Families,

Teachers lead students through intelligence, charisma, humor, moral integrity, and example—in short, through love and friendship, as modeled by Socrates.

A good leader can powerfully influence followers to catch and carry out a particular vision. Volumes have been written on what makes a good leader. Charlatans and scholars alike have made fortunes selling the latest and greatest ideas on effective leadership. We take a simpler approach in this pillar of our philosophy. We simply identify the sources of power that our teachers draw upon to influence our students. The first is intelligence. Our teachers study deeply themselves so their expertise is evident. Our scholar trust that their teachers really understand the content they are teaching. This trust make is easier for them to receive the lessons being taught. The remaining four—charisma, humor, moral integrity, and example—all share a common thread. These are all admirable qualities in themselves, but, more specifically, they are qualities that facilitate relationship. We understand that in order to reach the heart of a child we need to lovingly assist the child in opening that heart to us. They need to feel the care and love we have for them if they are to willingly and joyfully follow us. These are the leaders we want to follow, so it is the type of leader we strive to be.

Heartily Devoted,

Dr. Clay Scott

Headmaster

PSO Snowstorm - 2021 Faculty and Staff Holiday Appreciation

Snowstorm is Here banner.png

The PSO Snowstorm is underway, now through December 9! Snowstorm is an easy way to show love to our teachers during the holidays. Families who contribute to Snowstorm by December 3 will have their scholar’s name printed in a holiday card presented to teachers and staff during a special holiday breakfast in early December.

Each year at the holidays, our community joins in the collective giving spirit in a tradition known as Snowstorm. In lieu of gifts for each of your scholar’s six teachers, show your appreciation by giving an offering of thanks to be divided among Archway Trivium West faculty and staff. This year, we are asking families to consider a gift of $50 per scholar to help us reach our $10,000 goal. This would mean a holiday gift of $175 for each full-time staff member! Snowstorm is a unique opportunity to show support to our wonderful community and is a beloved tradition here at Archway Trivium West. A donations of ANY amount is greatly appreciated, after first giving to Community Investment.

Follow the steps below to help us Fall into a Snowstorm!

Families who have not already given are asked to first give to Community Investment before giving a Snowstorm Holiday Gift. Please consider giving to help us reach our goal!

First, Give to Community Investment

Then, Give to the PSO Snowstorm

school zone.jpg

As a reminder, picking up students from the Lifetime Fitness parking lot after school is NOT permitted. Students entering the Lifetime parking lot after school is dangerous and a safety issue. Lifetime is a private business and we want to be good neighbors. Please plan to use the school's published pick-up procedures for the safety of all. Thank you for your cooperation.

Great Hearts Open Enrollment for 5th Grade students and NEW-to-Trivium Students Only, November 8-December 10

open enrollment.JPG

Archway Trivium West Parents: Open Enrollment for new-to-Trivium students will begin Monday, November 8 and runs through Friday, December 10 for all Great Hearts Arizona Academies. Current K-4th Grade students at Archway Trivium West who plan to return next year DO NOT need to participate in open enrollment. Re-enrollment information will be sent to current K-4th grade families in March 2022.

If you have a 5th grade student currently enrolled at Archway Trivium West, who plans to enroll at Trivium Prep or Roosevelt Prep please plan to enroll them during the November/December Open Enrollment period. 5th grade graduates of Archway Trivium East and West receive "Archway Graduate" priority status which is the highest priority status for enrollment into Trivium Prep. More information will be sent to 5th grade families in the coming weeks.

If you are the parent of a sibling (entering Kindergarten - 12th grades) who is not currently enrolled at a Great Hearts Academy, please plan to fill out an application during the Open Enrollment period unless you have already rolled-over an active application in the enrollment system from the 2021-22 school year. This includes students entering Kindergarten in 2022.

If you are a current Archway Trivium West student who plans to transfer to another Great Hearts Academy next year, please plan to fill out an application during Open Enrollment and request a transfer to the new Great Hearts school.

If you have questions, please visit the Great Hearts Enrollment page.

Traffic Flow

Thank you for your patience and caution during student drop-off and pick-up. The safety of our students and staff is of the utmost importance.

As a reminder, to minimize the backup of traffic on Encanto/Bullard before the end of the school day, we are closing the Encanto entrance to our school parking lot from 2:35-3:00pm. Goodyear Police will be monitoring traffic on Encanto and Bullard during this time, and if you are stopped on one of these roads waiting to enter campus, you may be ticketed.

On Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday, families who are picking up Archway-only students should arrive to campus AFTER 3:10 PM. Families picking up both Archway and Prep students, please remind your Prep students to arrive to the pick-up zone promptly.

On Wednesdays, families picking up BOTH Archway and Prep students are asked to arrive AFTER 1:40 PM. On Wednesdays, families picking up Archway-only should arrive at 1:25PM.

Parents picking up Archway students from school MUST use the Archway pickup line. Prep students picking up Archway students to meet a parent driver may NOT load into a car in the Prep pick-up line or on Palm Lane. The entrance/exit to our parking lot from Encanto Blvd is right turn only.

Please review the following links for the modified Traffic Flow and reach out to the front office with any questions.
