A Message from Headmaster Scott
Dear Archway Trivium Families,
I spend most of my day talking to people. I am an extrovert by nature, so this suits me. Although I readily admit to being a chatterbox, the real value of those conversations is in the connections and relationships that grow out of them. The interesting thing is that the conversations are not always easy. I don’t shy away from conflict and I am liberal with my opinions and thoughts. I engage in this way because I trust the people I communicate with. I trust that the Trivium community is so full of good will that there isn’t room for ego or any other divisive element in conversation. The result, most of the time, is a productive, connective exchange that allows the participants to openly and honestly pursue truth together.
If you have ever spent time in an intensive care unit, especially a pediatric unit, you have seen a strong example of how this works. As the doctors, nurses, and specialists make their rounds in the morning, the conversation sounds anything but friendly. It is respectful, but often heated. They don’t care about “being right” and they certainly don’t care about each other’s feelings. Every person in that group has a single objective, and that is the wellbeing of the patient in that bed.
Schools are not much different in this regard. We hash things out until a good answer appears. The path forward is sometimes new to everyone involved and emerges from the conversation itself. It is in these moments that I am grateful for people with stout hearts, clear eyes, and varying perspectives. Whatever your role is in our community, thank you for being who you are. Thank you for trusting us enough to disagree.
Heartily Devoted,
Clay Scott, Ed.D.

Save the Date for Literary and Historical Figure Day - November 3 | |
Save the Date for our annual Literary & Historical Figure Day on the half day, Friday, November 3. Scholars are invited to choose a literary or historical figure from the Archway curriculum and come to school dressed as that figure* on Friday, November 3. This is a great way to celebrate our love of history and literature. All students are encouraged to participate!
Please Note: Students must complete and return a Costume Proposal Form to their classroom teacher by Friday, October 27 in order to participate.
*Please remember that the character you choose should be from one of the Classics-to-Keep from the K-12 list, Greek or Roman Mythology or a historical character from our History or Science curriculum. It’s preferred, but not required, that your character looks like the author’s description of the character and not a movie version. If your costume will be at all see through, you must wear your uniform underneath. If you choose not to participate, you will need to come in uniform.
*All costumes must abide by dress code guidelines in the Family Handbook and must exclude any frightening or aggressive costumes or accessories.

The original goal was to read 300 minutes over 10 days and many of the scholars went above and beyond. Late Pick-up Policy
We have been doing very well with our on-campus student pick-up and drop-off routines as of late. Every year, it takes a few weeks for us to settle into a routine so that the pickup runs smoothly. Now that pick-up times are running efficiently, we ask parents to ensure they arrive on time to pick up their students.
We will begin enforcing our Late Pick-up Policy on Tuesday, September 5. Please make sure you are arriving within 30 minutes of the end of school to pick up your scholar in order to avoid being charged a late pick-up fee. Parents arriving after this time will be required to sign out their child from the MPR and may be assessed a $2 per minute, per student late fee. All late pick-up fees will be added to your Configio account and are due upon receipt. For more information, please see page 46 of our Family Handbook.
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday - You will be charged from 3:35pm
Wednesday - You will be charged from 1:55pm
Half days - You will be charged from 12:25pm (excludes Half Day Kinder)

School Messenger Communication
Great Hearts and Archway Trivium continue to utilize the system School Messenger for emails, robo-calls, and text messaging to inform families of campus related academy emergencies and other communications. SchoolMessenger has a new automatic opt-in for text feature. During the registration/re-enrollment process families confirmed their wish to participate in text communications. Great Hearts will now automatically opt in contact information given during the registration/re-enrollment process with the options you selected. You will notice at the beginning of July you will be opted in for text messaging. If you would like to opt out of text messages simply reply STOP to the text from 67585. You can also enter the code 67585 with the message STOP to block any text messaging. Please note, if opting out, you will not receive texts regarding emergencies on campus.
Email Communications
If you know of parents who are not receiving these communications, please ask them to check their junk/promotions email folders, and then email bmcdonald@archwaytrivium.org for assistance.
You can also find ALL school-wide communications on our website on the Latest News page.
