FRIDAY FLASH

September 16, 2022

A Note from Headmaster Scott

Dear Archway Trivium Families,

This piece is called Landscape with the Fall of Icarus by Pieter Bruegel the Elder. When I first saw this painting, I had trouble finding Icarus. I eventually found his leg sticking out of the water in the bottom right corner. It is the unfortunate reality of mortal existence that, much like the characters depicted in the painting, we obliviously encounter tragedy without so much as a glance as it passes us by. It would be completely unrealistic to pass through life fully aware of the burdens of our fellow travelers. I don’t begrudge the plowman for failing to notice a human being falling from the sky (why would he ever consider such a thing?). Instead, Bruegel’s work reminds me of what I don’t know and encourages me to treat others with compassion. Next time you come into our Archway atrium, please enjoy the print we have posted and take a moment to reflect. Have a great weekend!

Heartily Devoted,

Clay Scott

Unity in Community Week | 9/12 – 9/16

Thank you so much to everyone who participated in this last week. Crossword Puzzles came in every day this last week, and we sure hope you learned some things about Trivium if you took the time to do that! Congratulations to the following folks who so far have been drawn to win some fun items over the last four days. We will do our last drawing today after school!

Our GRAND PRIZE DRAWING will happen after midnight tonight, which is the deadline for submission of entries. Families will receive one entry for their Community Investment giving, one entry for their pledged Tax Credit (you set it to draw any day between today and 4/15/2023), and one entry for every additional Tax Credit pledged by a friend or family member that lists you as their referral. Check the donor list as of 9/1/2022. We will update it before our two Grand Prize winners are drawn next week!! Winners can choose from the following:

Remember that we are asking our Trivium Family to rally together in support of our school community by pledging a tax-deductible gift to Community Investment. Why? Because Community Investment giving in partnership with our Trivium families makes our school possible and our classrooms thrive for the scholars! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our Family Giving & Community Engagement Officer, Annann Hong, at ahong@archwaytrivium.org or (773) 307-6779.

Traffic Flow for Student Drop-off/Pick-up

With the expansion of Archway and addition of the new building, there are significant changes to the traffic flow for the upcoming school year. Please carefully review the new Archway Traffic Flow for Student Drop-off and Pick-up and reach out with any questions. Taking the time to understand these procedures will help to ensure the safety of our students/staff and a smooth traffic flow.

Carpooling Update: Our east side pick-up lane has had a faster track and will now be our designated carpool lane.

If you have 2 or more Archway ONLY pick-up cards, you will be guided into this fast-track lane for a faster pick-up. Please be sure to have your pick-up cards ready to show our traffic controllers that you are carpooling so they can guide you to the appropriate lane. To maintain the flow of pick-up, others may be directed to the fast-track lane, but carpools will be given priority. Please do not enter the carpool lanes until you are directed to do so.

As a reminder, if you are picking up Middle School students DO NOT ARRIVE to campus before 3:15 PM. This creates significant delays. If you arrive before 3:15, we will ask you to go back into our pick-up lanes and try again.

Please follow the link below to review the DETAILED Archway Traffic Flow Plan and be sure to share this link with anyone authorized to drop-off/pick-up your children.
