Wyoming Young Entrepreneur Spring Pitch Challenge Winners Celebrated 

The Wyoming Afterschool Alliance congratulates the winners of the Wyoming Young Entrepreneur 2022 Spring Pitch Challenge: Isabelle Camino – Manure Mobile, Buffalo High School; Caydence Engling –Freelance Graphics, Buffalo High School; Aisley Ivie – Aise + Vinyl Records, Star Valley High School; and Mia Hutchinson & Dylan Johnson – Sink or Swim, Star Valley High School. Their entries reflected young people’s courage, adaptability, persistence, optimism, and empathy.

WACTE Summer Conference Features WYAA Breakout Session 

The Wyoming Association of Career Technical Educators (WACTE) State Conference will be held June 13-17 in Powell. Attendees are invited to attend the WYAA breakout session on Wednesday, June 15 at 2:30pm: “Connecting the Dots: College/Career Readiness, Financial Well-Being and Entrepreneurship.” The fun session will knit together ways to build important life skills that will benefit students as they look to shape their future.

 RIDE Advisory Group Hosts Listening Sessions 

The RIDE (Reimagining and Innovating the Delivery of Education) Advisory Group will hold a series of moderated community listening sessions to build upon the results of an online public survey. The sessions will be held in Afton, Rock Springs, Powell, Riverton, Gillette, Casper, and Cheyenne. A virtual session will round up the community events on Wednesday, July 27. Information will be developed into a set of recommendations for Governor Gordon that will include specific actions to improve the education system in Wyoming. 
Profile of a Graduate
SBE Hosts Profile of a Graduate Listening Sessions 

The Wyoming State Board of Education (SBE) Profile of a Graduate is an effort to gather the wisdom and perspectives of all of the education stakeholders in determining what an ideal K-12 system should produce in terms of a Wyoming graduate. The Phase I report has been published: Click here. Participants are invited to review the draft profile and provide feedback to SBE in the Phase II vetting sessions. The final public listening session is planned for Tuesday, June 7 from 6:00-7:00pm: Register here. Wyoming-based organizations may schedule a virtual session by contacting Diana Clapp, SBE Coordinator, diana.clapp@wyo.gov. Groups of 6-12 are an ideas size for these sessions.

What are young adolescents capable of here and now? The Curry School of Education at the University of Virginia presents the “Lessons in Adolescence Podcast.” Episode 28 features Joel Daniel Harris, Founder and “Executive Dreamer” of TomTod, a youth development nonprofit based in Canton, Ohio that offers summer learning opportunities for middle school aged youth, as well as afterschool and in-school programming.

Every program representative who completes the survey will be invited to an exclusive session that features free, high quality engineering activities, and how to adapt them for at-home activities. In addition, every person who completes the survey will be entered in a drawing for one of ten $100 gift cards.
