General Knowledge

That’s garbage! Go take a hike! Haha, you’re all wet!

This Friday, I am feeling a bit childish as I consider the last week and weeks ahead. Hey, do you remember garbage pail kids? For those who don’t, garbage pail kids were popular trading cards in the 1980’s enjoyed by the young and young at heart. They were in a word gross. As an older brother, they were a fun response to the popularity of cabbage patch kids that had gripped my younger sister and her friends. In the theme of what’s old is new again, Garbage Pail Kids are back and popular among today’s youth. Whether you enjoy the grossness of garbage pail kids, you will likely enjoy the additional garbage capacity available on June 1st. Twice a year San Miguel Garbage allows additional bins at the curb. I know it is a couple of weeks away, but with Memorial Day around the corner it will be here before you know it. With the help of our Community Engagement Committee, we wanted to give you ample warning as an incentive to complete that spring cleaning you have been excited to get done. Check out the flyer below.

On the topic of cleaning up, chipping days are coming up. No, that is not when everyone works on their short golf game. If that is your idea of a chipping day, remember to use a 7 to 9 iron with a narrower stance and your weight favoring your front foot. For the rest of us, chipping day(s) is when you leave branches by the curb and the good people at the Fire Safe Council will come chip them for you. You do have to contact them to get your address on their route for June 30-July 1. There is a flyer below with more information.

The trails committee is hosting a hike day next Saturday, May 23rd. After all that work cleaning and limbing, go take a hike! When you are done you will really deserve to cool off and you are in luck because the pools open next Friday for the season!

When you get home from your dip and sit around your clean home with fewer low-hanging branches you can expand your knowledge of the Ranch financials at the HROA.us website thanks to a new pop-up. Hopefully, this whets your appetite for all the financial information you will get in the mail by June 1 in the form of our annual budget mailer. I know not everyone enjoys reading a 37-page policy and budget document, but it is expensive to mail, takes us a lot of time to put together and is legally mandated by the good folks in the State government. Do me a favor and take a gander at it.

Finally, as we plan for the end of May and kick-off the season remember to put the Special Board Meeting on your calendar. It is scheduled for Saturday, May 30th 9:00am-11:00am. In response to requests at the last board meeting to schedule a Town Hall meeting, we sent out a message last week that we would be hosting the Town Hall. Early this week, we decided to make it a Special Meeting, since we planned on doing the same noticing necessary for a Special Meeting. Then this morning we received a petition from folks with the same idea. Thanks for the support everyone! It seems great minds do think alike.

Have a fun weekend. Don’t work too hard and I hope to see you around the Ranch!

Jim

Good evening, everyone. Two items for your consideration.

1) The flyer for an upcoming NRWMAC fundraiser. We are hoping to get a large turnout of Nacimiento Lake community residents and your friends to attend this event. It looks like good food, a good variety of drinks, good raffle prizes, and a lot of fun!

This is a good opportunity to meet other lake community residents and meet the NRWMAC board members in attendance. You can click here and purchase your tickets online by tapping the "Get Tickets" link. Feel free to share the fundraising flyer with anyone you know who might be interested in attending this event. You can also purchase hard copy tickets from your lake community NRWMAC representative. If you do not know who your NRWMAC representative is, you can email me, and I will direct it to that person, or you can send an email to--info@nrwmac.org

2) Attached below is the 2026 MCWRA Nacimiento/San Antonio water release schedule. NRWMAC board members sometimes get asked, What is your end game here? Bottom line, NRWMAC wants enough water in Nacimiento so all lake communities' launch ramps are usable from May 1st through Labor Day of each boating season. Feel free to reach out with any questions/concerns.

My best regards. Thank you, Bruce McFadden Heritage Ranch NRWMAC/email--bmc1212@sbcglobal.net
