Journey and Discovery is the opportunity to further your knowledge of the Montessori method and curriculum experienced by your children through guided activities and lessons presented by the Guides at TMS! Child care is provided. We encourage all families to attend. Please RSVP for the event and child care.

Join us for our 2nd Annual Carnival!

This fun-filled community event supports our school’s Annual Fund. It promises to be an evening of exciting games, delicious food, and fun prizes—all while raising funds that benefit our school programs.

Event Highlights:

• Games and prizes for toddlers through elementary students
• Food and refreshments to enjoy with family and friends
• A night of fun with our TMS community

The carnival is open to all ages and is the perfect opportunity to connect with other families while supporting our school. Funds raised through the event will be used to enhance programs above what tuition covers.

We look forward to seeing you there for an evening of fun, food, and community spirit!

Meet Our Staff

Cecilia Beck

Children's House Music Teacher

TMS is happy to welcome Mrs. Beck back as our Children's House music teacher. Mrs. Beck received a bachelor's degree in Music Education with a minor in piano. She became a certified Montessori guide after receiving her AMI training in Bergamo, Italy . Among her accomplishments, Mrs. Beck started a Montessori school in West Germany. She also taught at The Montessori School for 35 years, first as a Lower Elementary guide and then as an Upper Elementary guide. Her hobbies include tending to her garden and doting on her grandchildren.

Nathan Hurdle

Elementary Music Teacher

Nathan is thrilled to be joining The Montessori School family. After graduating from Goucher College in 2017 with a Bachelor's in Music, Nathan has been regularly teaching and performing in the Philadelphia area. When learning with Nathan, students will gain a legitimate understanding of fundamental musical concepts that will allow them to experience freedom and creativity sooner. Before joining TMS, Nathan served as the Music teacher at The Miquon School in Conshohocken. Nathan is very excited for the school year and to meet a new community!

Toddlers Enjoyed Gardening

Thank you to Manali Shah and Tim Weeks for building the garden boxes for the Toddler Community. Today, the toddlers enjoyed hands-on learning while planting in their garden. First, basil, Thai basil, lemon thyme, oregano, and marigolds that were flourishing in the other garden were transplanted for the scent filled box. For texture, they added lambs ear, red cabbage, and celosia and for color, purple aster, mini pansies, and regular pansies were added.

Welcome Back Upper Elementary!

This week our Upper Elementary students enjoyed their overnight trip to Echo Hill Outdoor School in Worton, Maryland, on the Chesapeake Bay. There, they participated in immersive outdoor education and classes that included Bay Studies, Swamp Canoeing, and Early American Studies. This essential component of the Upper Elementary program is a highlight of each year!
