Welcome to the new Parent-to-Parent Corner, where members of the School Accountability Committee (SAC) will be sharing facts and resources for fellow parents. This year, they will be focusing on the topic of kids and screens, following up from the recent Screenagers viewings.
Kids and Screens
Educational technology, where each student uses a device to learn throughout the school day instead of traditional methods, is linked to the global drop in math, reading, and science skills.
Hundreds of studies have conclusively found that schools that use screens instead of books, pen, paper, and real-life interaction are failing. Click the link to read the findings. We love that MacLaren does not use screens at school!

Volunteer and Fundraising Opportunities
End-of-Year Giving
As the semester nears its end, would you consider making a year-end gift to help MacLaren flourish? Donations large and small work together to make a big impact, helping us retain excellent teachers and care for our facility.
The Masters Fund provides a semester-end bonus for MacLaren teachers and staff and is a way to express appreciation for their hard work. Thank you cards are available at the Front Entrance for you to express appreciation to your child's teachers and to let them know you gave to the Masters Fund in their honor.
The Annual Fund aids the upkeep of buildings and grounds, curricular support (textbooks, instruments, science equipment), and athletics (uniforms, equipment).
Thank you for considering!
