Count Day! Spirit Day Wednesday, October 1!
Wednesday, October 1, is Count Day. This is the day the state designates to count all public-school students. MacLaren's funding for the year is directly tied to this count. It is very important that all of our students are at school on October 1. Please only keep your children home if they are sick. Thank you for your help in securing the funds we use to pay employees and run the school.
To celebrate Count Day, Wednesday is a Spirit Day! All students may wear MacLaren spirit wear in lieu of their polo shirts.

Parent Event: Saturday Series – October 4
Last year, we started a Parent Saturday Series to introduce parents and guardians to elements of the MacLaren curriculum and invite them into the community of learners. This fall, we are continuing to build on the success of last year’s offerings with a continued focus on essentials of the curriculum and our approach to learning. We invite all parents to join us for one of these classes exploring foundations of the MacLaren curriculum.
A detailed list of available classes is available in the September 15 email. Please RSVP by September 29.

Vision and Hearing Screening – October 7-9
Our annual hearing and vision screening is coming up October 7-9, 2025. Every year we screen all students in Kindergarten through third, fifth, seventh, and ninth grades. We also screen all students on IEPs, 504s, and any who are new to our school. Annual screenings in the school allow for earlier detection of problems and are more efficient than each family having to make appointments at various local providers for a basic screen. If for some reason you do not wish to have your child screened, please complete this opt-out form and return it to Mrs. Fisk.
Approved volunteers are greatly needed to accomplish these screenings. Please complete a Volunteer Application if you have not completed the approval process.
We are offering two shifts per day: morning and afternoon. Please consider signing up for as many shifts as possible and bring your own lunch if staying for the entire day. Please contact Mrs. Fisk with any questions. Thank you in advance for your help!

The Community Stargazing Night is Saturday, October 11, 6:00-9:00 p.m., on the school grounds. This event is free, open for all ages, and registration is not required. Invite your family, friends, and neighbors! This event is designed for families to enjoy together. Parents, please accompany your Lower School children.
Bring lawn chairs and blankets to relax with your family on the Upper Field under the stars. Astronomers will also be on the Upper Field to share their equipment and expertise. Feel free to bring your own telescope if you have one. The Mobile Earth and Space Observatory and Cool Science booth will be on site for hands-on viewing and activities. Enjoy Big Papa’s Grill and Travelin' Tom's Coffee Truck or bring a picnic! A flashlight is advised for departure.
