THE GODHOOD OF JESUS – LESSON 2

ELOHIM

In Revelation 1:8, Jesus uses the example of the Greek alphabet to illustrate that He is from the eternal and into eternity when He said, “I am the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending.” That would be like using our English alphabet to say, “I am the A and the Z…” So, let us now go to that beginning in Genesis.

Genesis 1:1 says, “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” Each of the six days of creation began with “and God said…” thereby creating through the spoken Word as John 1:1-3 said.

The creation was accomplished through the unified and coordinated work of the Trinity. The Father was the divine intelligence that designed the creation and everything in it. He communicated this to the Son, the one who hears Father and carries out what He hears. This is why He is called the Word of God. Jesus spoke the world into being… “and God said, let…” Then the Holy Spirit moved into action to perform the words spoken by the Son. We see this clearly in Genesis 1:3 as it says, “And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters (and the earth).” Holy Spirit was the creative energy that brought together the creative word spoken by the Son according to the creative design given by the Father.

This is shown by the original Hebrew word for “God” that is used throughout chapter one which describes all six creation days. “God” is the word Elohim” which is plural, not singular. The “…im” pluralizes it. Singular would be “El” or Elah.” Elohim is the plural form denoting Father, Son, and Spirit in unity as one God. This confirms that the Son, Jesus, is fully God just as is the Father and the Spirit.

Then, on the sixth day of creation (Gen. 1:26), it says “and God (Elohim) said, ‘Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.’” So, Elohim made man a trinity just as is Elohim. We are made soul, body, and spirit.

Our soul is the counterpart to Father, our intellect, our mind, will, and emotions (functions from our brain). Our body is our physical appearance, our “tabernacle” for God’s dwelling with us and within us and is the counterpart of Jesus. Our human spirit is the energy of life by which we can do things and accomplish what our mind determines and act out what we speak by word, which is the counterpart of the Holy Spirit. The trinity of man is patterned after the trinity of God.

Jesus is to us the physical manifestation of the Godhead Trinity. Our bodies are the physical manifestation of our human trinity, together with our invisible soul and spirit.

When I look at you, I can only “see” your body. When we look at God (Elohim) we can only “see” Jesus, the Son. So, I see you as human (man or woman) and I see Jesus

as God. The other two parts of man and of God are absolutely real, but not seen with the physical eyes of the body. Nevertheless, we see the other two parts by the effects produced as clear evidence of their being.

Yes, Jesus is God. Yes, you are man/woman. God’s being is complete and perfect. He also made you complete and perfect (in Adam’s original state).

Isn’t God great? Amen!

NOW WHAT?

It seems for many people that they have lost all hope with the recent events in Washington, D.C. Many are disgusted with the President. Others are angry that an election was a sham and want to see justice done.

The Church is divided. Many are pro Black Lives Matter, while others are vehemently against it. If I were to take the spiritual temperature of the church instead of being hot, I would say it has become very “lukewarm” in the things of God. Instead of being about the Father’s business, many have become so incensed with the political realm that they cannot stop talking about it.

Years ago, there was a trial of a well-known celebrity that supposedly killed his wife. A friend, who claimed to be a Christian, was glued to the television waiting to see this person prosecuted and put away for life. It was all that she could think about. She didn’t talk about anything but this situation. She rarely talked about things of God because she had been consumed with this trial.

I think the same thing has happened this past year. People have become consumed playing the blame game for Covid19, the economy, the President and more drama, that we have lost our focus on what we are to do as Christians. We must get back to being what a Christian must be, a person that forgives others and shows those are lost that God has a plan for their lives.

The devil has run through our nation, destroying so much. Don’t you think it is time to bring God back to the forefront in all we do? Arguing about political and medical things and conspiracies is not going to change a world. We must go forward. We can’t continue to sit back. We must look to the one person that gives us hope, and that is Jesus Christ. He told us to make our “election” and call sure.

By the way, he also said the world would know we are Christians by our love. So, that is what we must do. We must love even those that are unlovable. We can make a difference. Regardless of who sits in the White House, Jesus has empowered us to walk in victory!
