Dear Friends,
Fall back, Spring forward.
It’s only an hour.
Just one hour that gets a little more attention than others. The one that lets us sleep in, or the one that gives us more daylight. It only comes twice a year here, but it stirs things up a little. We trick ourselves into believing that we gain an hour or lose an hour depending on the time of year. We grumble about the change but truth is, there are still only 24 hrs in a day – that never changes.
When things change, whether it’s time, plans, schedules, relationships, locations – we have to adapt, re-center, and move forward. Change can disrupt our lives in small and very big ways. However much we struggle to adapt or adjust there’s one thing that never changes – God is with us
God is always here – 24hrs a day.
Some things will never change – thanks be to God.
Blessings and peace,
Karen+

A Future with Hope!
That’s our theme for this time of year. After nearly two years of constantly adapting to change, we’ve learned how to weather the storm as best we can with the resources we have. Being good stewards of our resources – time, talent, and treasure - is how we will fulfill the plans God has for us at St. Stephen’s. By now you should have received a letter and pledge card in the mail.
This is the time to prayerfully think about how much of your treasure you can pledge to St. Stephen’s for 2022. COVID hit us all very hard in many ways, and yet we know God has plans for us and that we do have reason for hope (Jeremiah 29:10-11). Every little bit you give is part of what gives us hope for our future. Thank you for your generosity!

Poem from the Garden
We planted salvia gracias as a groundcover
for the labyrinth, with an electric blue salvia celestia
behind it, with red California fuschias on one side,
and white-purple salvia apiana on the other. Apiana
means that it's a sage that bees love, though humans
like it as incense, or just a reminder of how bright and
tall things in nature can grow. We planted carmel sur
manzanita, which never gets higher than a few inches
and whose tiny while flowers will help feed the humming
birds in January when all other sources of food are scarce.
Bear and Kat and Jun and I were the planting crew on
Saturday, with Alice (the corgi puppy) supervising. We
planted over 50 plants in a few hours, hands deep in
the rich earth, dreaming of the colors Easter will bring.

Food for thought:

NEEDING PRAYER SUPPORT?
Prayer is one of those things we often think about, might feel inadequate about, believe in but might be unsure how to proceed. How we pray is sometimes unique to each of us. The Church provides help in many ways. If you find yourself in need, of any kind (emotional, physical, spiritual, guidance, etc) consider how St. Stephen's can support you:
* there is a prayer chain of committed pray-ers (who maintain confidentiality).
* tell people about your answers to prayer! and the miracles you witness, or how prayer changes YOU.
Please submit prayer requests to Rev. Karen.
