Dear Husky Community,

The partnership between our families and our schools is invaluable, and our success is due in large part to our community’s continuous willingness to support each other. This year more than ever, we need your participation, and there are so many ways to get involved.

As you may have seen in our 2019-2020 Annual Report of Donors - Grit & Gratitude, our wonderful community has contributed in many ways and each and every gift was meaningful and significant. In case you missed it, here it is again.
Earlier today, I asked each family to help us by supporting the Husky Fund at any level. Not only does this serve as a true testament to your commitment but this also conveys a strong message of solidarity that allows us the opportunity to seek external funding. In times of uncertainty, we invest in what we value most, and it is essential that we rally the entire community to support this year’s Husky Fund. We appreciate gifts of any size and are grateful for your contributions!
We have two exciting events coming up to bring our community together. On Friday, November 6, from 12-1:30 pm PST, we are thrilled to have you join us for a time-honored annual tradition at RHP & Ren. Our first ever VIRTUAL Grandparents' and Friends’ Day will include a special classroom visit and student performances sure to make for a memorable day for family and friends near and far. If you would like to invite guests to this special day, contact Krista Maire at KMaire@RollingHillsPrep.org. REACH will host their Grandparents’ and Friends’ Day on Friday, November 13.

You can also show your Husky spirit and school-wide support in our First Annual Husky Turkey Trot – 5K Fun Run/Walk on November 21 - November 28. It's the perfect time for you and yours to get involved in some healthy outdoor fun and fundraising. We hope to have the participation of the whole Husky community, so get your team together and your tailfeathers moving! The beauty of a virtual 5K is that friends and family will be able to participate from their own neighborhood, gym, track, or treadmill, either independently or as part of a team. Proceeds will support all three schools’ essential technology, learning tools, and program supplies.
Though we remain largely apart these days, the community remains united as a Husky Family and though we are tested, our success continues. Please consider joining us for all of the above and I look forward to seeing you all soon.

On behalf of the faculty and staff of our three great schools, thank you for your continued support and partnership.

Home Language Survey - Due 10/30: Under Title III of the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015, limited-English proficient (LEP) students (otherwise known as English Learners), attending private schools are provided an opportunity to receive supplemental services to assist them in the acquisition of English. In order to identify potential English Learners and determine the services needed, the attached Home Language Survey (HLS) must be completed for each student and returned to the school by October 30. This form can be accessed by clicking the "Announcements and Events Details" button below.
Updated - Middle Years Programme (MYP) Parent Information Session - 10/28: You are invited to an information session about the International Baccalaureate (IB) and its Middle Years Programme (MYP) for grades 6-10. Join Ms. Cheryl Beshke and Mr. Justin Flamini to learn what makes the MYP such a powerful learning experience for students and to find out about our journey to become an authorized IB school. There will be time for questions.

This meeting will take place on October 28 at 7:00 PM and is geared for parents of sixth and seventh-grade students, whose teachers are beginning to implement MYP in their classrooms, but all are welcome. The Zoom invitation will be sent out on Monday and preliminary questions can be submitted by clicking the "Announcements and Events Details" at the bottom of this section.
Upper School Renfrew Presentation - 11/9: This trimester, upper school students will be hearing a presentation from the Renfrew Center on Food, Body Image, and Eating Disorders. The Renfrew Center supports adolescent girls with eating disorders and gives them the skills to work through and create a more healthy relationship with food. In this presentation, they will discuss topics like the myths and facts, nutrition, body image, social media, and how to help a friend. 11th and 12th grade students will experience the presentation on November 9, 2020. If you have questions or concerns about the presentation, please email epaduadouglas@rollinghillsprep.org
Grandparents' and Friends' Day - 11/6: Grandparents' and Friends' Day is a time-honored tradition at Rolling Hills Prep and Renaissance Schools. If you would still like to invite grandparents or special friends in your student’s life to Grandparents' and Friends' Day, hosted Friday, November 6, please e-mail Krista Maire at KMaire@rollinghillsprep.org
Admission Referrals - Discover Day 11/12: Word-of-mouth referrals are a significant component to admissions for independent schools and we deeply appreciate any referrals provided by our community. We will be offering several admission-oriented "Discover Days" in the coming months and we would greatly appreciate it if you passed the word along within your network of family and friends. We will be hosting our first Discover Day virtually on November 12 at 10:00 AM. You may scroll down further in this letter for more information or materials to share with your network. We appreciate your help!

"All sports prepare you for life, but baseball does it the most for me because baseball is a game of failure. Many coaches and players say that this game will keep you humble because a lot of players will fail seven out of ten times but if you can do that a majority of your career, you’ll be really good. The game teaches you how to handle failure and overcome adversity."
