February 5, 2021
Greetings Husky Families,
As you heard last week, we are excited to be able to offer opportunities for students to connect on campus after school beginning Monday, February 8. These after-school activities will take place from 3:30 to 5:00 PM on various days throughout the week and will engage students in groups of 14 or fewer. All will be hosted outdoors and follow all COVID-19 safety protocols. Course signs-ups and prioritization will be offered on a first-come-first-serve basis, although students will be allowed to join in the weeks ahead if there is space. Please understand that the information that you submit is only a request and that you will only be approved to take a course once eligibility is confirmed by teachers and administration and the requests are approved by parents.
Important Rules To Consider:
  • According to Los Angeles Department of Health regulations, students currently are allowed to join only one cohort for safety reasons. We hope that with the current downturn in COVID-19 cases, this constraint will be lifted in the weeks ahead
  • If a student is already involved in an academic or athletic cohort on campus they may not participate in an after-school cohort activity
  • Students will need to regularly provide proof of negative COVID-19 tests
  • Students may switch cohorts only if they commit to a 14-day quarantine period
  • Students must provide a negative COVID-19 test before beginning any activity

Next week, we celebrate International Week and while it may look different this year, we remain committed to honoring our diverse community throughout the week. Join us for a very special Coffee House on Wednesday with members of the community taking us on tours from around the world!

Lastly, fifteen of our upper school students were recently recognized with a total of twenty-three awards by the regional Scholastic Art and Writing Competition! The Gold Key winners' art goes on to compete at a national level for a chance to win scholarships and be exhibited in New York.

"So until you can confidently assert that you, in all your existence, are whole, it only stings to suppress your starvation. Instead, accept hunger--both yours’ and others’-- and honor it."
Maja Braslow

"In order to conquer these problems and feel better, I write poetry. It allows me to think and gather my thoughts. It allows me to put my emotions into writing. Without poetry, I would be stuck with my thoughts and I would not be able to move on."
