What's Happening at the Library & Community Activities?
The Community Activities Department (Ashlee & Leslie) would like to thank all of the Car Week event organizers for choosing the City of Carmel for their event. We enjoyed working with you and hope you had a good time.
Thank you to the Public Works staff for all the work they did to make downtown Carmel Car Week ready. Putting up the netting on the Ocean Avenue medians, posting all the no-parking signs, placing all the barricades for street closures, and then collecting it all when the week was over.
Thank you to the VIPS who walked a lot of steps this week. Their help with traffic safety and assistance to the PD was invaluable. They were also great ambassadors giving directions and a lot of general information about what was going on.
Thank you to the Police Department for keeping the streets cleared and traffic moving.
And a big thank you to the residents of Carmel for their support of the events and their patience during Car Week.

Sunset Cultural Center and the Carmel Public Library
Host a Workshop with
Local Artist Marie-Clare
Saturday, August 24, 2024
| |
You're invited to a coloring and mask-making workshop with local folk artist Marie-Clare on Saturday, August 24, 2024, from
11am-1pm on the Sunset Center Terrace.
This is a FREE event. While the workshop is recommended
for ages 3yr-11yr, all are welcome!
Marie-Clare Treseder Gorham, also known as Marie-Clare, is a folk artist heavily influenced by the ethos of the California Arts and Crafts movement and medieval themes. Her practice includes hand-painted textiles, amateur carpentry, and perhaps most notably the Carmel Shell mural on the façade wall of the Paloma Furnishings building on Mission and 6th in Carmel-by-the-Sea. Her work is shown throughout California, and her "dainty doodles" are often seen on apparel worn by her and her family.

Hope you've had a 'good' Car Week, CBTS. Special thanks again to Community Activities (Leslie and Ashlee), Public Works, and our Police Department who are working overtime - literally and figuratively. As stated in the vlog, we'll have a post-mortem with the Community Activities Commission in September, and the City Council in October. Those meetings represent the public's opportunity to share thoughts about the week. Think good thoughts for tonight and tomorrow night. And take good care. CR.
