Friday, May 6th
Dear St. Edmond’s Families,

We honored Mothers’ Day a little early today in the Rollins Center for the Performing Arts with a return to a SEA tradition: Father Jasper celebrated Liturgy with the boys and our Lancer moms. The program ended with our 18 fourth graders reading their thank-you letters to their mothers and grandmothers, and the Lancer students giving flowers to them as a sign of love and affection. Much thanks to Mrs. Reardon, Ms. Robinson and Mr. Bill D’Amato for orchestrating the event. Really special.

We had our final SEA Board meeting on Wednesday night. I continue to work with Mr. Domenic Maiorano, the new incoming head of school, as we plan for summer transition and next year’s school year. As I keep saying, he will be a tremendous asset to the school. His passion for the community is clear in every conversation, and his vision will truly help the school grow and thrive. Another reminder that we will host a Meet & Greet for Dom in the Anthony N. Fusco, Sr. Great Hall this coming Thursday, beginning at 6:00 p.m. Please make plans to attend and welcome him. Parents (and those 21+) can register here.

A week from today we will hold a pretty raucous and fun-filled Friday. Starting at 5:30 p.m. on the soccer field, there will be a Color Dash for the various grade levels; families can sign-up here. A food truck and DJ will be on campus as well. At 7:15 p.m. we will hold the SEA Ball Drop Fundraiser followed by an 8:00 p.m. school dance in the Bill D’Amato Alumni Gymnasium. It will be a busy night on Veale Road.

Lastly, happy Mothers’ Day to all our SEA moms. Teacher Appreciation Week has been celebrated each day here: pretzels, cookies, snacks, gifts, and a full lunch today, all provided by our SEA moms. As this week clearly reminds us, the St. Edmond’s mothers are integral to the success and energy of this school community. Father Jasper concluded Mass today by linking Jesus’ mother Mary with our current mothers: “One mother’s ‘yes’ changed the world.” Yes, yes indeed.

Happy Mothers’ Day weekend.

Warm regards,
John
