On
Sunday October 21st, friends and family interested in learning about Islam and Islam Heritage are invited to
celebrate Islamic Heritage Month at the Islamic Centre of Canada, 2200 South Sheridan Way. An Open Doors event is running from 12:30 to 4:30 pm. A presentation on 'The Early History of Muslims in Canada' will be given by Hussan Munir, a historian. Other activities include exhibitions. calligraphy, children's activities, entertainment and refreshments.

STRIDERS' HIKING GROUP
This Sunday
October 21st
is the hike to Spencer Gorge/Webster Falls, Dundas Ontario. The Spencer Gorge Conservation Area exhibits the physical features which have made the Niagara Escarpment one of Ontario's most spectacular geological formations.This significant natural area contains two beautiful waterfalls: Webster and Tew Falls. Both offer spectacular vistas of the gorge. Refreshments will be served at Rev. Kathi's home in Dundas after the hike.

OPEN DOOR DINNER
As part of the Open Door Program, EMUC will be hosting a dinner at Square One on
Thursday, October 25th. There is a sign-up sheet posted at the back of the church or you may
call Lorraine Moore, 905-821-1741 for more information.
How to help: Prepare a casserole (e.g. Shepherd’s pie, Mac N’Cheese, Turkey/ Pot Pie, vegetarian dish); slice up some fresh veggies (e.g. carrots, celery, peppers, cucumber) or toss a salad (e.g. green, cole slaw, Caesar, Greek). Bake some cookies or squares. If any one wishes to be creative, some Halloween themed cookies would be great for the kids. If cooking isn’t your forte, we need drinks, buns, paper plates, napkins, cutlery. If you are unable to cook, but want to help, we will need 4 people in addition to me to help at Square One. We will meet at the church at 4:30 that day.

BOOKWORMS WANTED!
There has been interest expressed in creating a third book club at EMUC. Five or so people, to a maximum of ten, are required to get this started. The present book clubs would be happy to share information about their structure when new members meet to discuss and design their own.
Sign up on the sheet posted on the bulletin board in the narthex, or call Sandy Hayes at 905-820-4437. The new club could meet during the day or evening depending on the availability of the members, so please state your preference.
CALLING ALL KNITTERS AND KNITTER WANNABES!

Prayer Shawl ministry
will be held in the church narthex
the first Wednesday of every month, commencing WEDNESDAY, November 7, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m
. The shawls will be given to EMUC members (and beyond) who are unable to attend due to being shut in, or ill, or who just need to feel wrapped in prayer from our church. All knitters, learners, or those who just want to chat are welcome. The Fall is the perfect time to get back to knitting, so dust off those needles, gather your extra yarn and plan to drop by.
