There will be a short skit at the start of worship each week in Advent. Our performers can commit for 1 week, 2, 3, or all four. No need to memorize lines, minimal rehearsal required.

DEACON'S CUPBOARD in NEED
anyone have a used laptop computer with Windows 10 on it that needs a new home and which you may like to donate? The Deacon's Cupboard badly needs a computer, since the one being used is very old and not functioning well. The computer is used to track all client visits and the amounts of food distributed. The statistics are entered into the Mississauga Food Bank database. Please contact Linda Leeder if you can help.

WOMEN FOR WOMEN
Women for Women will meet on
Friday, November 22nd. Gather at 6:00 pm for dinner at 6:30 pm.
guest speaker is Anne Bokma, author and storyteller
(and former EMUC attendee). Anne will be reading from her new book,
"My Year of Living Spiritually,”
discussing the book and various spiritual practices. Books will be available for sale as well.
Cost is $10.

AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL WRITE FOR RIGHTS EVENT,SUNDAY, DECEMBER 8th
Each year around International Human Rights Day, Amnesty International organizes “Write for Rights”, a letter writing event to advocate for activists and victims of harassment and human rights abuses around the world. The focus for 2019 is on youth advocates who are facing human rights violations. Please join the Interfaith Peace and Justice Committee immediately following the service on Sunday, December 8 to write letters to government officials, send a card or note of support to prisoners of conscience to remind them that they are not alone, or sign a petition Copies of this year’s cases will be available in the narthex if you wish to prepare your letters ahead of time. Donations to cover the cost of postage will be gratefully received.

"FUNDSCRIP" AND CHRISTMAS HAMPERS
Please consider placing an order for Fundscrip cards on November 24 and donating them to our Christmas hamper program
. Food store cards may be purchased through this program. Once the cards arrive, you can simply enclose them in the special Christmas Hamper envelopes and place them in the offering plate.
You will receive a tax receipt for your donation

EMYC- POINSETTIA CAMPAIGN
EMUC has partnered in the past with EMYC to raise funds for the United Way Greater Toronto, through the sale of poinsettias. Nadia, from EMYC will be in service November 24
to explain the campaign.
Orders must be placed by December 1
for delivery by December 6
You may wish to place your poinsettia in the sanctuary in memory of a loved one and then take it home after the Christmas Eve Service.
Order envelopes are on the table at the back of the church.

OPEN DOOR DINNER AT SQUARE ONE - Thursday, November 28th, 2019
As in previous years, EMUC will again be hosting a dinner. There will be a sign-up sheet posted at the back of the church or you may call me.
How you can help:
Prepare a casserole (e.g. Shepherd’s pie, Mac N’Cheese, Turkey/ Chicken/Beef Pot Pie, vegetarian dish); slice up some fresh veggies (e.g. carrots, celery, peppers, cucumber) or toss a salad (e.g. green, cole slaw, Caesar, Greek). Bake some cookies/squares/bars. If cooking isn’t your forte, we need drinks(water/pop), rolls/buns, paper plates, napkins, and cutlery.
If you want to help other than cook, I will need 4 people.

CITY WIDE ADVENT & CAROL SERVICE DECEMBER 1st
There is a citywide advent service being held
at Eden United Church, 3051 Battleford Rd., Mississauga at 6:30pm on December 1st.
Our lovely choir will be part of the Mass Choir performing and there will be hymns, readings and fellowship. There is a magic that happens when communities come together. Don’t miss this memorable service.
