SIX ASPIRING ACTORS NEEDED FOR ADVENT
There will be a short skit at the start of worship each week in Advent. Our performers can commit for 1 week, 2, 3, or all four. No need to memorize lines, minimal rehearsal required.
NAME TAGS - NOVEMBER 11TH DEADLINE
New name tags are available for
ordering until November 11th. The tags can be the traditional "pin on" style or magnetic. We are charging $5 to offset the cost of the nametag. Please see Sylvia Arnold or Mary Anna Williams after service, or contact Tina in the office during the week at 905-820-9466.
VESPER SERVICE NOVEMBER 10TH
You, your friends and neighbours are invited to our Peace Vesper Service
November 10th at 7:00 pm
here in the sanctuary. It is a service of readings, music provided by Len Feldman our Music Director
,
and singing. There will be light refreshments following the service.
EMUC STRIDERS- SUN NOVEMBER 10TH - GARNETWOOD & FLEETWOOD PARKS
Plan to enjoy the outdoor surroundings, as the EMUC Striders, along with Mindful Steps (the walking group from Applewood) take a leisurely walk through the valley of the Etobicoke creek off Garnetwood and Fleetwood parks.
Trails are paved with one staircase to climb.
Bring a bagged lunch and meet in the Narthex at noon. We will organize carpooling to travel to the Garnetwood Park (north side of Burnhamthorpe, east of Ponytrail).
The hike will start at 12:30 and last about 1 hour 15 minutes.

WOMEN FOR WOMEN
Women for Women will meet on
Friday, November 22nd. Gather at 6:00 pm for dinner at 6:30 pm.
Our
guest speaker is Anne Bokma, author and storyteller
(and former EMUC attendee). Anne will be reading from her new book,
"My Year of Living Spiritually,”
discussing the book and various spiritual practices. Books will be available for sale as well.
Cost is $10.
Dessert donations are welcome. Please sign up on the list in the Narthex or respond to the email invitation by November 18th. See Cathy Scattergood for further information.
"FUNDSCRIP" AND CHRISTMAS HAMPERS
Please consider placing an order for Fundscrip cards on November 24 and donating them to our Christmas hamper program
. Food store cards may be purchased through this program. Once the cards arrive, you can simply enclose them in the special Christmas Hamper envelopes and place them in the offering plate.
You will receive a tax receipt for your donation
and the fundraising program will benefit from the purchase of a Fundscrip card. Thank you for generosity. For further details, please speak to Joanne Hines or Sandra Witterick.
EMYC- POINSETTIA CAMPAIGN
EMUC has partnered in the past with EMYC to raise funds for the United Way Greater Toronto, through the sale of poinsettias. Nadia, from EMYC will be in service November 24
th
to explain the campaign.
Orders must be placed by December 1
st
for delivery by December 6
th
.
You may wish to place your poinsettia in the sanctuary in memory of a loved one and then take it home after the Christmas Eve Service.

OPEN DOOR DINNER AT SQUARE ONE - Thursday, November 28th, 2019
As in previous years, EMUC will again be hosting a dinner. There will be a sign-up sheet posted at the back of the church or you may call me.
How you can help:
Prepare a casserole (e.g. Shepherd’s pie, Mac N’Cheese, Turkey/ Chicken/Beef Pot Pie, vegetarian dish); slice up some fresh veggies (e.g. carrots, celery, peppers, cucumber) or toss a salad (e.g. green, cole slaw, Caesar, Greek). Bake some cookies/squares/bars. If cooking isn’t your forte, we need drinks(water/pop), rolls/buns, paper plates, napkins, and cutlery.
If you want to help other than cook, I will need 4 people.
