Friday Ministry Spotlight: The Staff
Merry Christmas from the staff of Perdido Bay Methodist Church! We are grateful for you and pray that you feel God's love, peace, hope, and joy this season! Each staff member was asked to share the best part of working here and below you'll find their responses!
Dee Dee Ward, Executive Assistant to the Pastors
I love working here because of the people, both in the office and church! Through celebrations and difficulties, we are together- and that makes all the difference.
Dudley Tye, Congregational Care Pastor & Senior Adult Ministry Director
The best part of working here is worshiping and serving God with a joyful church family.
Vivian Johns, Community Missionary
Working here is a wonderful experience. The staff and church members are all big part of God's family, and it shows in the love and support they give.
Missie Hockenberry, Executive Director of Church Operations & Finance
What I like most about working at Perdido Bay Methodist Church: the people. I get to work with an amazing staff, and we get to serve alongside so many wonderful church members who love to serve and honor God.
Katie Olson, Director of Worship Arts
I love working here so much, because the volunteers in the worship arts ministry have truly become a part of my family. They are all so passionate about worshipping God! Also, working with the children here always reminds me that even our littlest congregants have the light of the Lord in their hearts and want to spread his love!
Scott Hohn, Associate Pastor
I love that the church is focused on being the heart of the of the community and is involved in many ministries where we look outside of ourselves in order to share the love and grace of Jesus Christ with others.
Renee Hartshorn, Church Hostess
I love the people I work with and all the people I am blessed to serve alongside throughout the week. Also, I love that we try to scare each other in the office on a regular basis!
Rae Menard, Director of Program Ministries
What I like most about working at Perdido Bay Methodist Church are all of the beautiful relationships I have with our staff and congregation. Although it often sounds cliché to say that we are a family, we ARE indeed a family… MUCH closer than many “real” families are! We are willing to “show up” for and support each other every day and most importantly we provide comfort, care, and prayer for one another that is immeasurable and that I treasure very deeply.
Ryan Etheredge, Youth Director
The thing I like most about working at Perdido Bay Methodist church is that it provides me with a source of deep community both in being part of the amazing team of staff but also the congregation as a whole. This Church is such a rich a source of ample opportunities to serve and minister alongside other wonderful people, all working towards being the heart of the community while spreading the love of Christ to those we encounter. More personally for me, the privilege of being able to serve as Youth Director to each of these incredible Youth and their families is a task I do not take lightly, but I also enjoy every second of it because they make it exciting, fun and I know that God has an amazing plan for each of their lives that He wants to bring in to their reality.
Levi Gardner, Senior Pastor
The thing I love most is the joy of serving alongside the staff and laity of our church to accomplish amazing things in the name of Jesus!
Makenna Prip, Communications & Youth Intern
I love having the opportunity to try new things and step out of my comfort zone.
Kenny Stewart, Audio Visual Engineer & Maintenance
I appreciate having the chance to utilize my gifts and talents while serving here. Roll Tide.
Kate Podschun, Nursery Director
I truly feel loved and appreciated at work! And when you’re going through a hard time, it’s not your typical workplace…you are genuinely held and supported in every way.
Janet Swalley, Bookkeeper
What I love most about working here is the way you have all become my family. I interact more with the staff and people of the church than I do with my own family and love the relationships I have made here.
April Stokes, Redemption Store Manager
If I had to pick one thing it would be the opportunity to serve God by helping others. But it’s more than that. I love working with our wonderful volunteers; getting to know our customers at The Redemption Store; praying for each other, our loved ones, our customers and their loved ones. Knowing that what we do at the store helps so many people fills my heart with joy. Then there’s our staff and our congregation, BEST EVER! I thank God for Perdido Bay Methodist Church!
Jeanne Lemley, Program Ministries Assistant
Perdido Bay Methodist Church is like a big family. We work hard together, we play hard together, and we may not always agree with each other but, we always have each other's back. Just like a blood family. We love each other like Jesus! Dance like Frosty, Shine like Rudolph, Give like Santa, Love like Jesus! Merry Christmas, Family!
Bridget Simpson, Preschool Director
I love being a part of a church that is so committed to serving the community. In so many ways PBMC is reaching out and working to show the love of Jesus to all. It is beautiful being a part of this church.
Dan Hoffman, IT Specialist
The Mission, the Purpose and the People…
Rachel Criss, Elementary Children’s Ministry Director
In my specific role as Children's Director at PBMC, there is nothing greater than witnessing the many ways our congregation walks beside the youngest among us and nurtures their hearts for Christ. And it’s an incredible blessing to work for a church whose families are deeply committed to raising their children in the faith. Bonus: I also love that I get to watch my youngest two boys grow up and thrive in PBMC's preschool.
Deb Kuhns, Pianist
I love God and my church!! Because He has given me so much, I feel He has called me to give back!
Holly Tye, Director of Communication
I love being able to spend my days side by side with my church family (and my actual family) building up God’s church. Nothing tops the days when we are each serving and worshiping at the same time in the same place! The fact that it's part of a job I get paid to do is surreal to me.
