Friday Ministry Spotlight: Finance Office

Perdido Bay Methodist Church is blessed with a diligent and hard working finance office! This week is especially noteworthy because we are honoring Janet Swalley, our Bookkeeper, as she retired yesterday (for the second time)!

Janet began attending the church in 2008 after her retirement from Lillian Methodist Church as their Bookkeeper. In 2017, she agreed to take the position as "Interim" Bookkeeper here. We were fortunate enough to have her for 8 years to the day! Her favorite aspect of working here is way the staff has become like her own family, spending 5 days per week together while working and connecting in meaningful ways.

During her retirement, she hopes to visit 3 states: Hawaii, Washington, and Oregon. This will complete her venture to visit all 50 states of the US! She also hopes to visit Ireland and Scotland. We are not saying goodbye to Janet, as she will continue to be a vital part of the life of Perdido Bay Methodist Church while worshiping at the 11:00am Service and serving in the Quilters on the Key and Prayer Shawl Ministries. She will also serve as a counter occasionally on Sundays! It is with great appreciation that we wish you a very happy retirement, Janet!

With this in mind, we are welcoming Shelly Mandel as our new Bookkeeper! Shelly began attending with her children, Mason and Marissa, in 2017. She has encountered the goodness of God here and it is evident by her smiling face and heart for service. She has faithfully served the Redemption Store as a volunteer (as well as cleaning the store weekly). She also leads our Backpack Ministry, coordinating food for hundreds of families every week. Shelly comes to us with the experience of co-owning a local business for 25 years. She is excited to be part of this staff team and also remarked joyfully about it's "family" nature. We are thrilled to welcome Shelly to the family!
