Governor Deal has issued a state of emergency for six coastal counties including Bryan, Camden, Chatham, Glynn, Liberty, and McIntosh Counties.
"Ahead of Hurricane Irma, I've issued an executive order prohibiting price gouging and waiving rules and regulations for motor vehicles transporting supplies, equipment, personnel, goods, and services associated with disaster assistance and relief," said Deal. "This state of emergency also ensures aid for the six counties potentially impacted by this catastrophic storm. We will continue monitoring Hurricane Irma's path in the days ahead and coordinating with our federal, state and local partners. I urge Georgians in the affected counties to remain vigilant and be prepared."
As additional storm updates and details come in, the Georgia Chamber will work to keep you informed every step of the way. For more information on hurricane preparedness, visit the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency website here.

The Women's Business Network met Thursday, September 7, 2017.Valerie Levy, MPH & Crystal Goines were the guest speakers. They spoke on TRMC received funding for a federal grant called Accountable Health Communities (AHC)!! TRMC is 1 of 12 organizations IN THE NATION to receive Track 2 funding (there are 3 tracks within the AHC model). In total, only 32 organizations were awarded the AHC grant funding throughout the U.S., and TRMC is the ONLY organization in the Southeast to receive the award! This is very exciting and special because this is not only TRMC's first grant, but this is also one of the first times that the federal government has offered funding for a grant program that focuses on the social determinants of health. Some social determinants of health include housing or food insecurity, transportation barriers, utility needs, or domestic violence, and in a community like Tifton and those surrounding communities, these social needs are extremely high, but are not detected/addressed. TRMC and the community have the opportunity to truly make a difference through program screening, the provision of community resource navigation, and by enhancing clinical-community linkages. With this grant opportunity they have the potential to improve the health outcomes of THOUSANDS, and reduce hospital utilization costs, and over-utilization of resources.
