REV. DON HANSHEW, SENIOR PASTOR

REV. CHASE CRICKENBERGER, ASSOCIATE PASTOR

Dear Church Family,

We've had so much to celebrate this week! Let me share just a few of the highlights.

CPR Training: Last Sunday, we trained 19 volunteers and staff in CPR. This is one step, of many, we are taking to ensure that when we gather as a community of faith, we have appropriate safety measures in place.

Ministry Fast Facts Update: We are launching a monthly “Ministry Fast Facts” update. Read the most recent one here. It covers attendance trends, quick ministry stories, and a financial snapshot.

Fundraising Soup and Salad Dinner Results: The United Women in Faith pulled together a missions fundraiser this past Wednesday. Through their generosity, they were able to raise over $1,000 for local missions! Thanks be to GOD!

Christ Without Borders: Also this past Wednesday, we launched a four-week class during Fountain City Fellowship called Christ Without Borders. The idea is to help us understand the interconnectedness of our global community through the lens of Christian faith. Our guest was Rev. Samuel Dzobo, a native of Zimbabwe, and currently our Associate District Superintendent. His story was powerful! On October 25, we will welcome Rev. Danny Castillo. He is a native of Mexico who currently serves as the Associate Pastor of Broadway United Methodist Church in Maryville. Rev. Castillo serves on many ministry teams in the Conference, is an exceptional leader, and is the son-in-law of long-time members Rocky and Kathy Castenir.

Yours In Christ,

Pastor Don

Donate Halloween Candy for FCUMC Trick-or-Treat Stations

Deadline: Wednesday, October 25

FCUMC’s Outreach Committee will host 3-4 Trick-or-Treat stations in area neighborhoods this Halloween! We need donations of individually wrapped candy. Please follow this link for our Amazon Wishlist or drop off bags of candy at the church office no later than October 25. Thank you for your support of our outreach efforts in Fountain City!

Our neighbors in the park will be facing cold and wet winter nights soon. We want to give them a little warmth with waterproof below freezing rated sleeping bags. We hope to collect 30 of these sleeping bags and your Sunday school class, small group or you as an individual can help. We have collected 17 sleeping bags to date.

Order sleeping bags here and have them shipped to 212 Hotel Rd, Knoxville, TN 37918. Or you can write a check to the church for $49, and put "sleeping bags" in memo line and we will purchase the sleeping bag for you. Two of our church members have volunteered to deliver the sleeping bags to our park neighbors. Wow! Such a worthy cause!

KARM Coats for the Cold

For 38 years, KARM has collected warm winter coats for those less fortunate, ensuring they are adequately protected from the cold weather. Winter coat collection goes through November 11 at all locations of KARM Stores and Prestige Cleaners. Please mention that you are from FCUMC during drop off. We will receive coat tickets from KARM based on our donations and beginning November 13, customers with a Coats for the Cold ticket can "purchase" a coat at a KARM Stores location. For more information, please check out KARM's Coats for the Cold webpage.

Blessing Box needs:

  • Peanut butter
