REV. DON HANSHEW, SENIOR PASTOR

REV. RACHEL COLLINS, PASTOR OF DISCIPLESHIP

Summer is almost here, and that means students will be out of school and our regular youth group programming will come to an end for a few months. That does not mean that youth ministry will end!

Over the course of this year, the amazing FCUMC volunteer youth leaders and so many members of the congregation have poured encouragement and love into our students. This has led to the students having a strong desire to give back, not only to the Fountain City community, but to surrounding cities as well!

Over the summer, the youth will have the opportunity to serve multiple times each month. These service opportunities were prayerfully thought of by the students themselves during Sunday school several months ago. It is important to the students that they serve the unhoused, the elderly, young children, God’s animals, and the Earth that we are so blessed to live on! It is our goal as a youth ministry team to provide students with a chance to do each of these things at least once this summer.

We will begin in June with two service projects: visiting Windsor Ridge Assisted Living and assisting at Second Harvest Food Pantry. The end of June will also include our FCUMC Youth mission trip to West Virginia where students will see first-hand the impact that they can make even in another state! If you are interested in volunteering to serve with the youth this summer, please email me. This is going to be a great three months of serving!

SERVING OTHERS

Gresham Middle School Staff Luncheon

Fountain City UMC hosted the Gresham teacher/staff luncheon on Monday, May 4. They were so appreciative of everything, but the homemade desserts were the talk of the school! Special thanks to those of you who sent baked goods for this event! Your time and talents have been an extension of God’s love, and we are so grateful!

2026 Hands-On Mission Project

The results are in! FCUMC collected eleven food buckets for Liberia and $560 for Zimbabwe virtual kits. Thank you, church family for your contributions to this important mission of the Holston Conference.

Community Outreach Team Update

The community meal had ended for this year. Our last meal was in April and over the months we served, we utilized 100 volunteers and fed an average of 20 guests each month! We had music provided every month by the Fountain City Art Center musicians and their students. Guests were able to take away food, hygiene items, and clothing items. Our guests included church members, housed and unhoused neighbors, and invited guests from the park and lake.

A big THANK YOU to all the groups, Sunday school classes and individuals who helped make our meals a big success. The meal is on pause until fall but Community Outreach is Taking One More Meal to the road for the summer. Watch for us around town helping feed our vulnerable neighbors and for more information soon on how you can help!

Community Action Committee is requesting gently used or new t shirts, elastic waist shorts, and underwear for males and females. Sizes M-XXL are most needed. Please no used underwear.

These items can be placed in the bin labeled "Community Outreach" in the mission donation area outside the Gym. Thank you for supporting this important local mission!

Did You Know? That your personal donations to KARM Thrift Stores can further the ministry of Making Disciples and Changing Lives at Fountain City United Methodist Church?

Corners Of Your Field is a partnership between FCUMC and Knox Area Rescue Ministries, encouraging FCUMC church members to be intentional about selecting their gently used household items for donation to KARM Stores. The stores then return a portion of the value of these items in the form of gift cards to FCUMC to help those directly in our care. Be sure to mention you are with FCUMC when dropping off donations!
