I'm New

REV. DON HANSHEW, SENIOR PASTOR

REV. RACHEL COLLINS, PASTOR OF DISCIPLESHIP

FCUMC Family!

As we approach the end of September, I’m reminded of the songs I shared with you at the end of August, inviting you all to send me your own favorites for September. But since I haven’t received any yet… well, all I can say is, wake me up when September ends! (Just kidding—I’m wide awake and eager to hear from you whenever you’re ready to share!)

I am writing to you from the Church of the Resurrection in Kansas City. Jen Smith and I are attending the Leadership Institute. Together for three days this week, we are diving into workshops and learning, gathering fresh ideas and inspiration to bring back to FCUMC. I can’t wait to see how these insights will shape our ministry in the weeks, months, and years to come.

Back at home, this Sunday’s service will offer a unique opportunity to explore something new. We’ll have creative and interactive prayer stations designed to help you engage with the divine in ways that might be different from your usual experience. These stations will provide space for reflection, prayer, and connection with God in a creative and meaningful way.

My hope is that you come with open imaginations and open hearts, ready to receive the grace of God that is poured into your life each day. I’m excited to see how this experience will enrich your spiritual and prayer journey.

See you on Sunday,

Pastor Rachel

The Chosen: Peter's Dilemma

Next Wednesday, October 2, we will conclude episode 4 of season one. Simon (Peter) is in serious trouble with the Romans and with his Jewish business partners. His only hope is a miracle. He needs to catch so many fish that he will be able to pay his tax debt. Will he be able to rely on his own skills to save himself from the Romans? Or will he discover he can not save himself?
