REV. DON HANSHEW, SENIOR PASTOR

REV. RACHEL COLLINS, PASTOR OF DISCIPLESHIP

Engaging Our Community With Right Practices

Over the years I have had many church leaders confide in me about how they struggle with sharing their faith in their community, in their workplace, and in their family circles. For many, all they needed was just a “little more” information to spark their confidence in how to share something that is beautiful and life-changing.

If this sounds like you, I invite you to participate in a 10-week Wednesday night series that will help us engage our community in Christ-centered ways. Each week, we explore critical topics that will help you understand our community better so you can have more confidence in how you share your faith in word, deed, and spirit.

The September topics are listed below. We are partnering with local agencies and their top-notch instructors. I encourage you to bring a friend so that more people in our community can move forward in the same direction of understanding and engaging our community better.

A meal for $5 per person will begin at 5:30 p.m., and classes start at 6:30 p.m. Don’t miss out on practical ways to grow deeper in your faith and connect with others in our church.

Walking With You In Faith and Hope,

Pastor Don

SERVING OTHERS

Helping Mamas Knoxville Diaper Drive

The Sarah Circle of FCUMC’s United Women in Faith is sponsoring a church-wide diaper drive to benefit Helping Mamas Knoxville during the month of September. Helping Mamas Knoxville works with area agencies in East Tennessee to distribute baby supplies to low-income families.

You can purchase diapers of any size, bring them to the church, and someone from the Sarah Circle will deliver them to Helping Mamas. There will be a bin marked “Helping Mamas” across from the Gym in which to put the diapers. Or you can order on their Gooddler wish list page and items will be delivered directly to Helping Mamas Knoxville. We invite our entire congregation to contribute to this worthy cause!

Fountain Kids is in need of an iPad for security on the second floor for children's ministry on Sunday mornings. If you have a used iPad that you are willing to donate, please contact the church office at 865-689-5175. Thank you!

STUDENT MINISTRIES

A Parent's Place

Gail Clift, Student Ministries Family Advocate

I have spent the last few weeks getting to know your students and learning how they “let their light shine” to show God’s love to others. They have been very gracious to let this “MIMI” hang out with them.

I asked if I could have a weekly space to share some things that I hope will be helpful no matter where you are on your parenting journey. You can send me topics you would like me to discuss, ask questions (anonymously) and I have several topics in mind that I think are on every parent’s list.

Please use this link to continue reading Gail's letter to parents called A Parent's Place. If you have questions that you would like Gail to address in an article or you would like to have a one on one with Gail, please contact Austin Weaver or Donna Lewis. All information is confidential.
