GOAL Calls Out Healey For 3D Fear Mongering
|
|
Gun owners group blasts 3D weapons ban
Jim Wallace, executive director of the Gun Owners Action League of Massachusetts, accused Healey of playing politics with gun control.
"She's trying to gin up her political base before the election by spreading fear and misinformation," Wallace said. "All she's done is spread panic and fear."
Wallace said lawful gun owners are allowed to make firearms at home, and Healey is stretching the use of the term "untraceable" to enforce a ban. He said restrictions on 3D firearms won't prevent criminals from getting their hands on illegal weapons.
"A criminal isn’t going to take the time to learn how to use a 3D printer, spend money to acquire the computer and hardware necessary, and start cranking them out when real guns are readily available at a fraction of the cost on the black market," he said.

Fresh lawsuit filed by gun shops over Massachusetts ‘assault weapon’ expansion
|
|
This is the third suit filed against the 7/20/16 Enforcement Notice
The lawsuit filed this week argues that the state lawmakers who crafted the current law only allowed a “features test” similar to the now-expired federal assault weapon ban, not a similarity test, which was only added by Healey without legislation or public input.
Although not named as a plaintiff, the lawsuit is supported by the National Shooting Sports Foundation, who has argued the new interpretation by Healey compromised the retailers’ livelihoods without increasing public safety. Larry Keane, the organization’s senior vice president and general counsel, said that Healey and her staff “clearly overreached their statutory authority and decided to legislate from that office without the benefit of any public process and in total disregard of 18 years of Massachusetts firearm law, under which firearm retailers operated.”
Reminder, GOAL's lawsuit vs Healey is continuing. We have filed an appeal against Judge Young's decision and will have more information about it available soon.

Topsfield Fair Volunteers Needed!
|
|
We are still in need of volunteer help at the Topsfield Fair
The fair is scheduled this year from September 28 through October 8, 2018. The Fair is one of GOAL’s greatest opportunities for public outreach throughout the year. Approximately 60,000 people come through the Fair on a given year giving us the ability to educate thousands of adults and children on the great work that GOAL does.
Once again this year we are seeking articulate volunteers to work the GOAL booth at the Fair. This year there will be two shifts per day. The first shift will be from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The second shift is from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Volunteers will be supplied with free admission and parking passes and are welcome to enjoy the Fair prior to, or after their shift.
If you would like to help GOAL reach thousands of fair attendees, please contact Jim Wallace (Executive Director) at
Jim@goal.org
and please include the shift and date of your choice and we will try to accommodate your choice.
You never know what you might see at the Topsfield Fair!

GOAL is pleased to offer a new class entitled THE LAW OF SELF-DEFENSE: The Use of Force Event, The Aftermath & The Judicial System. Two Dates Available
11/17/18
and
12/8/18
This full day Law of Self-Defense Course covers The Use of Force, The Aftermath of Use of Force, and The Judicial System. The target audience for this full-day course are gun owners and especially those gun owners who are concealed carriers. The laws relating to self-defense are quite specific and strictly enforced, especially in Massachusetts. Citizens who are concealed carriers do so to protect themselves if attacked. However, armed citizens who do not know the law of self-defense put themselves at great risk with the law, the judicial system and financially if they have to go to their gun. The Law of Self-defense focuses on the use of force law with specific reference to Massachusetts law. Winning the battle with a bad guy is the first part; winning the legal battle is the second part. Don’t be a victim of ignorance of the law. Sign-up for The Law of Self-Defense. (A specific outline is available – e-mail request to Know The Law: Your Innocence Depends On It at
ktlknowthelaw@aol.com
.
Course Instructor, John McAdam, Ph.D. is a Certified Instructor Graduate of Attorney Andrew Branca’s Law of Self-Defense Instructor Program. Also, John is a Professor Emeritus from Marist College, Poughkeepsie, NY. John’s background in firearms includes completing courses at Sig Sauer Academy in Epping, New Hampshire. Included among those courses are Sig Sauer’s four Progressive Shooting Development Courses. In addition to firearm’s proficiency and safety, John developed a keen interest in the law of self-defense and the legal use of force. That interest motivated John to complete courses specifically focused on the law of self-defense, such as the Use of Force course with Technical Handgun Training (THT) of New York. Following the THT
course, John completed additional courses focused on the law of self-defense with Attorney Andrew Branca of the Law of Self-Defense (LOSD).
New training schedule for fall 2018 posted on GOAL website:
