Mayor Walsh Wants To Require Doctors To Ask About Your Guns
Boston proposes state law requiring doctors to ask about guns in homes

Walsh administration officials said Wednesday that they will ask lawmakers to approve a bill requiring doctors to ask patients about guns in their homes to help identify risks of suicide and domestic violence.

“This is a great way for the medical field to help identify any red-flag issues,” Boston Police Commissioner William Gross said in a briefing with reporters. “It’s to put another tool in the physician’s belt to help out the victims.” link to story

The quote from Commissioner Gross is especially chilling given what we now know about ERPO legislation.

1. Going back to ERPO - doctors can now file an ERPO order - (confiscation without due process).

2. Should this new legislation pass, doctors will not only have the power to confiscate firearms, they will be REQUIRED to ask about them.

3. Doctors would become the first line of offense for gun prohibitionists - those who wish to disarm law abiding citizens.

4. This is especially troubling given anti 2A actions and rhetoric from the AMA in recent years.

Finally, we need to reinforce what we have stated regarding MA being the most dangerous state in the northeast . Boston is the most dangerous city - in the most dangerous state, in all of the Northeast, there is a drug war fueling gang violence, and our courts and prosecutors are catching and releasing the perpetrators on a daily basis ( #MACourtFails ). Nothing in these proposals will curb this violence, and that is truly sad for the communities affected by it. We hope they demand real solutions from Boston's top cop.

As of this time there is no bill number for this legislation, we will monitor this and keep our membership up to date.

GOAL Donates $50K to NRA Civil Rights Defense Fund.

Thanks to the dedication and generosity of GOAL members, our Executive Director Jim Wallace was able to attend the recent NRA Board and Committee meetings in Virginia. While Jim was there, he had the pleasure of attending the NRA Civil Rights Defense Fund Committee meeting and presenting them with a check for $50,000.

The donation was earmarked for use in Second Amendment litigation cases originating from Massachusetts such as our case against Attorney General Maura Healey.

If you would like to help GOAL stay in the fight, please consider making a donation!

About the NRA Civil Defense Fund

The NRA created the Civil Defense Fund to support 2A litigation in the state of Massachusetts. The money from this fund supports many groups including Comm2A.

To date, the NRA has fully funded all legal fees incurred during our lawsuit against Healey. Our donation to this fund represents a small portion of what they have spent and comes directly from GOAL fundraising which was setup to support this litigation. We are happy that MA gun owners – our members are helping to continue this fight in court. Without assistance provided from this NRA fund, our court case would be not be able to continue.
#MACourtFails - Where Is The Concern For Public Safety From Our AG and Legislature?
"I understand that that stuff can happen, you know. People get out. People do bad things. You can't control that, ultimately,"

-Attorney General Maura Healey, speaking in defense of Judge Feeley.
The #MACourtFails campaign was started to raise awareness about our failing courts and criminal justice reform system, and how our elected officials would rather pass laws restricting what law abiding people do, than address the actual causations of “gun violence”.
"Known gang member" who punched cop in eye before fleeing to avoid arrest, who was then arrested after pursuit with loaded firearm, gets probation - charges dropped.

The balance of the sentence was suspended for 2 years with probation. He was sentenced to a concurrent term of 2 years in the House of Correction after pleading guilty to assault and battery on a police officer. The balance of the sentence was suspended for 2 years with probation. Criminal arrested a year ago on gun charges now arrested for New Years Eve shooting - murder.
Just over a year after being arrested on gun possession charges, this  #MACourtFails  alum is arrested again for the NYE shooting , this time with two guns. Once again, if  #MALeg  were serious about "gun violence" there would be a lot more outrage about this. Link to story

MACourtFails Archive! This page will make your head spin . We put a few months worth of #MACourtFails on an archived web page. Please feel free to share this with your legislators, and ask them where the concern for public safety is, that they all had during ERPO?
