The Denville Township School District and Denville Township Police Department take the safety and security of our students and staff as the number one priority. In order to provide the safest  environment possible the district and police have teamed up to complete several projects, including the installation of security vestibules.  Please click here for a school security update.  

Recently, the New Jersey Department of Education released the 2017-2018 School Performance Reports.   Denville schools met or exceeded 100% of the schoolwide targets and  goals , and the Summative Rating Scores for Lakeview and Riverview Schools were in the top 1.5% of all public elementary schools in New Jersey.  Please click  here  for details of the report.

Happy Spring! Our Riverview Rockets are soaring! It was wonderful meeting with so many parents during conferences. Parents play an integral part in their child's education and we are so thankful for their support and assistance. We are extremely proud of the academic progress our students are demonstrating. The state released the school performance report in which Riverview ranked in the top 1.5% of all public schools in New Jersey! We are so proud of this amazing accomplishment and thank the entire learning community for making this possible. We have wonderful teachers, support staff, coaches, parents, administrators and students. Congratulations to all! More information on this great news is available on the Denville website which includes a letter from Dr. Cullis and an article from "Tap Into Denville".
We had a very successful Family Digital Citizenship Night, thank you to all that attended. Ashley Craig from the Morris County Sheriff's office shared important information on keeping students safe online. We remind our students to display ROCKET behavior online and be safe and responsible digital citizens. Thank you to Ms. Craig, Ms. Jamison, Mrs. Sudol, Mr. McCabe, Mrs. Pridham, Ms. Novak and our student leaders in making it such a productive and informative evening!
This Friday we celebrated World Water Day with a personal message from Georgie Badiel thanking us for our support.We were reminded to be grateful for all that we have and to work hard to be the best we could be! We are so proud to be involved in this organization that helps bring clean drinking water to thousands of people in Burkina Faso. 
Next week we will kick off this year's Service Learning Project that focuses on finding peace within ourselves and spreading it throughout the school, community and the world. It offers our students opportunity to learn about gratitude, mindfulness, empathy and compassion.  We will work with Family Promise to help homeless families in Morris County.  Thank you to the PTA for purchasing the book,  I Am Human, A Book of Empathy by Susan Verde. We are looking forward to the many meaningful events and activities planned through our service learning aimed at helping our students learn about compassion, empathy, mindfulness and peace.  We are always amazed of what we can accomplish together!  Our Riverview Rockets make us proud!
We are looking forward to our second grade assembly on Empathy and the launch of our Service Learning Project on March 26.  
We are also very excited about our PTA Fast Track Tricky Tray on Saturday, March 23 from 10 am-3 pm. Please join us and support our school at this fun event.  Thank you to the many volunteers and contributors that make the Tricky Tray such an amazing event! Look forward to seeing everyone there!
Registration is Open for Summer Explorations
 
Registration is open for 2019 Summer Explorations.  The program will be held at Lakeview Elementary School this year.  There are classes for grades K-8th grade.  Choose from many different classes including Aqua Explorers, Space Camp, Slime Time, Dreaming of Disney and more!  Click on the picture for details. 
Triumph: Overcoming the Odds
 
There will be a school - community presentation entitled "Triumph: Overcoming the Odds".  It will be held at Riveview on April 16 at 7 PM.   Russell Lehmann is an award-winning and internationally recognized motivational speaker, poet, author who wrote a book titled "Inside Out: Stories and Poems from an Autistic Mind" which was featured in the LA Times.  Click on the picture for details and registration.
March STEM Classes  and Family Makers Night
 
The Lakeland Hills YMCA will hold a Family Makers Night on March 22 for family tech fun, including robots, 3D pens, circuitry and more.  Click here for information.  The Y is also offering Makerspace classes and STEM with Seuss.  Click here for details. 
Morris County Community Forum

Join NJTV, New Jersey's public television network, for a public conversation about the symptoms and prevention tactics to help today's young people cope with stress and societal pressures, and how to prevent teen suicide.  The program, Understanding Mental Stress and Suicide Factors for Today's Youth will be held on March 25th at Drew University.  Click here for more information.
Science-sational Day 

Morris County 4-H will hold "Science-sational Day'' at the County College of Morris in Randolph on March 30th.  Participants do not have to be 4-H members. Kids can explore all sorts of fun and exciting science at the event, which is specifically designed for Morris County youths in grades K-6.  Register early!  Click on the picture  for information.  
New Assessment to Replace PARCC

New Jersey will be using a revised and shortened assessment this year called The New Jersey Student Learning Assessment (NJSLA). This assessment replaces the PARCC.  Please click here for dates and information regarding the new assessment. 
Sweet Peace Baking Contest
 
Bakers and tasters wanted on Sat. April 13, 12:30 - 2:30!  Enter your best baked treat.  Awards will be given in Junior, Teen and Adult Divisions.   This supports Rise Up Rockaway.  Click  here for details.  
Healthy Kids Day and Backyard Pool Swim Lessons

The Lakeland Hills YMCA is offering two upcoming programs for children. Y membership is not required for either.  Healthy Kids Day will be held on April 18 and will be a fun filled day to promote healthy kids.  Click on the logo for details.  Backyard Pool Swim Lessons are now being offered for the summer.  30 minute lessons  for children are available at your own pool.  Click here for details.
Denville Tennis Camps and Classes
 
In association with the Denville Recreation Department, US Sports Institute is offering spring tennis classes and and summer tennis camps for ages 3-14 at the Gardner field tennis courts.  Click on the picture for information. 
Dodgeball Tournament 

The Lakeland Hills YMCA 2nd Annual Charity Dodgeball Tournament will be held on April 27, 3 - 5 PM to support Give a Kid the Y.  Everyone is welcome.  Click the picture for details. 
Pickleball now available at the YMCA

The Lakeland Hills YMCA is offering a pickleball demo and learning session on April 18th.  There will also be opportunities to play pickleball starting April 23rd.  Click on the picture for details. 
Denville PAL Cheerleading 2019 
 
Registration is now open for Denville PAL Cheerleading.  There will be a mandatory choreography week and new uniforms this year.  Take advantage of the early registration discount through 3/31/19.  Click on the picture for details.
Technology Corner - All Star Award 
 
Constant Contact, the program Denville Schools uses to produce the Friday Newsletter has given Denville Schools the 2018 All Star Award.  We would like to thank the parents, guardians and staff  who helped us earn this award, as it is based on high email open rates, click throughs and weekly communication.   Only 10% of all customers receive this award.   We hope to continue with this successful communication, so you can be informed of all that is happening in the schools.
