Important information for parents/guardians of 5th grade students:

In May of 2013, the Denville Board of Education voted to change district policy 5111 (Residency) and require that all students moving up to grade six go through a re-registration process. This process will help to ensure that the Denville taxpayers are funding free public schools for Denville residents only.  Please click here for the registration form.

L.E.A.D. Ceremony was held on March 15th. This program empowers our children to make good decisions. We are sure their teachers, school counselors and you, their parents have discussed many of the topics covered in this program. The effectiveness of this program is its delivery from a police officer who connects with the children and who is personally vested in each and every one of them. Thank you, Officer Underwood!!! The students wrote essays as the culminating activity and one student from each class was asked to read their essay at the ceremony. We clearly have exceptional writers at Lakeview School which made this a very difficult decision. The following students shared their essays: Samantha Bergen, Mackenzie Comprelli, Anay Gonha, Mary Yap, and Zachary Zimmerman. Amazing!
The A.R. Spinola PTA should also be recognized for Lakeview's Family Fun Night, held on Friday, March 16th. Families enjoyed playing bingo and participating in the popular Kids' Tricky Tray. It was an amazing night. Family Fun Night was a great success due to the hard work of Mrs. Eastman and all the volunteers who supported this family event.   Thank you!

Thank you for joining us for parent conferences. Conferences provided teachers time to communicate with you about your children's academic, social, and emotional successes. Don't limit your communication to conference time. The teachers, Mr. Scala and I are always here to listen to your concerns. Special thanks to the A.R Spinola for organizing the Spring Book Fair during our March conferences. The Lakeview families had the opportunity to purchase books for the whole family before and after their conferences.

Starting the week of April 8th, students in grades 3-5 will be taking the NJSLA test. Your child will need a good night's sleep and a healthy breakfast to perform to his/her optimum during the days of assessment. A lunch and snack containing whole grains, fruit and high protein food items would be beneficial to your child as well. Energize your child by encouraging exercise and discouraging excessive television watching and video-gaming. Please help your children arrive at school on time and organized during the testing days. We want to make sure that your child begins the day relaxed and prepared to begin the assessments. Please avoid making doctor or other appointments during the mornings of testing. Please note, no cell phones or other portable electronic devices are allowed in the testing rooms under any circumstances, so please be sure that these types of materials remain at home. We appreciate your assistance in helping your child perform to the best of his/her ability.
