To add to our end of the year activities, the Lakeview Lions celebrated Olympic Day with their friends. Olympic Day is one of the most exciting and most memorable days for the students at Lakeview School. It is that one special day, when the students put their books aside and step outside to spend one of the few school days left with their teacher and their friends that they have shared an entire year with. Side by side with their friends, they had the opportunity to laugh, enjoy well established friendships, demonstrate sportsmanship and compete against themselves for their own personal best. Days like this do not come along very often. That is why they are recalled years later as important memories. It was an amazing day!
Honoring Veteran's has been a focal point of Lakeview's pride for over twenty years. Each year, the students, staff and community members all work together and present a formal ceremony to not only local veterans, but for Veterans all around the county, state, and even country.
Approximately twelve years ago, one of our staff members was asked to be the Key Note speaker at a Memorial Day Ceremony at the Morris County Courthouse in Morristown based on the reputation and success of the Veteran's Day program at Lakeview School. Being a Veteran as well as a teacher, in her speech, she incorporated music from the Veteran's Day program. Impressed with the performance, etiquette, and high standards the students were held to, the students have been asked to come back annually as a permanent part of the program.
The ceremony took place on the front lawn of the County Courthouse at noon on May 22. We at Lakeview School, are very proud to say we have the honor and privilege to pay homage and respect to Veterans at this county-level ceremony.
Mrs. Warner and Mrs. Hall presented at Rider University at the NJASECD Conference. Their workshop titled, #GotLVPride: Using Social Media to Promote Core Values, received very positive feedback from the participants. Lakeview, also, received the recognition at Rider University from NJASECD and Character.org for being
a 2019 New Jersey School of Character and a 2019 National School of Character.
Isabella Pimenta, a fourth grade student at Lakeview School, was honored with Denville School District's Student of the Year. We are so proud of Isabella and all she does to make Lakeview School a special place to be!! Thank you! We are so proud of you!
It doesn't seem possible that the school year is coming to a close.
We are looking forward to the Kindergarten Show, the Fifth Grade Recognition Ceremony, Preschool
Celebrations and many other exciting end of the year events.
It has been very rewarding to watch the children become independent, caring citizens of our Lakeview Community. We would like to thank the A.R. Spinola PTA for all their support. You have made a significant difference in the lives of our students. It has been an incredible year. Thank you for sharing your children with us.
