Riverview students continue to learn the importance of displaying R.O.C.K.E.T behavior. We have many exciting events planned aimed at helping foster leadership in our students and make powerful connections with content learned across all settings. The month begins with Read Across America Day in which Ms. Jamison has organized many special visitors to join us and read to our students. Thank you to all our wonderful visitors for sharing their love for reading with us. Students will see the importance of reading and learning about diverse people and places through Read Across America Week.
We will be hosting our first Family Digital Citizenship Night on March 12.
During which we will be showcasing students' digital citizenship work in grades 2-5, have a wonderful guest speaker, and offer learning sessions as well as a family game. Please join us for a great night of learning about digital citizenship, information and a link to register is located in our Friday Folder.
This month we will also be kicking off our Service Learning Project in which students will be learning about being peaceful leaders and spreading peace within themselves, their community and the world. Students will hear an update from the Georgie Badiel Foundation and be able to contribute funds to help provide clean water to villages in Africa on World Water Day, March 22
nd
. Students will also be learning about important concepts such as empathy, diversity, compassion, and gratitude. Part of our school wide service learning will be helping Family Promise, an organization that assists homeless families. Our second grade students will kick off our School Wide Service Learning by teaching us about Empathy during our student led assembly on March 26th. We will also be learning more about empathy, perseverance and inner peace through reading books, participating in diverse learning activities and by listening to our wonderful guest speakers such as author Susan Verdes, football player Eric LaGrande and the beloved book characters, Frog and Toad. We are excited to continue to teach our students about the importance of learning to take care of ourselves and others through peaceful leadership. We would like to thank the PTA in advance for supporting these wonderful initiatives. We are so excited to continue to work together with our community to help our students understand that by finding peace in themselves allows them to spread peace in their school, community and the world.
Spring Conferences will be March 20, 21 and 22
.
Our teachers are eager to share with you information and meaningful feedback on your child's progress. Reminder that these days will be minimum days.
An important health message: Our Riverview community is experiencing an increasing incidence of flu and illnesses with fevers.
Please remember your children must stay home if they have a fever and may not return until they are fever-free for 24 hours WITHOUT the use of fever-reducing medications such as Tylenol, Advil, Motrin, or ibuprofen.
Please help us prevent the spread of illness by following these guidelines and remind your children to practice proper hand-washing.
We are also looking forward to our Spring Book Fair and Author Day coming next month. Thank you to all the PTA volunteers that make these special days possible for our school. Excited for a wonderful month of learning ahead!
